    Beef Biscuit Cups
    Handle
    1 Reviews |  By RHOS

These have reached comfort food status in my house. Very easy to make, spices can be added to personal taste, same with types of cheese, sauce, etc. This can easily be adjusted to a lower fat version by adjusting the ground beef fat content, biscuits and cheese. I am sure there are lots of these recipes or similar variations floating around the Zaar.

    Pumpkin Banana Bread
    Handle
    6 Reviews |  By RHOS

We love pumpkin bread and banana bread, so why not combine them. I was experimenting the other day, came up with this recipe. Wife and kids loved it.

    Island Grilled Jerk Chicken
    Handle
    1 Reviews |  By RHOS

This recipe comes from Everybody Grills! by Char-Broil. I'm always looking for new grill recipes that stick to the basics (picky family) with some subtle new flavors (trying to branch out the picky family). The family loved it, the leftovers, while few, reheated well! Served this over rice with a green veggie side.

    Venison Cheese Dip
    Handle

This recipe comes from a Taste of Home cookbook. Neighbor gave me some ground venison, had to figure a way of using it. Very tasty dip. Good to munch on while watching a football game. I've listed it "as is," but would recommend a little less chili sauce and a little more garlic when you make it. My kids loved it as did I. BTW, I added a little hot sauce to my serving- very good!

    Blackened Halibut
    Handle

I have never blackened fish on the grill before, but was tired of my usual fish recipes so I gave it a try. Turned out great. The cajun seasoning has a measurement here (required), but I actually just dusted the steaks liberally with it on each side. Serve as a sandwich with a side of rice or by itself over rice.

    Recipe #473690

    Select
    Crockpot Beef and Beans
    Handle

This is one of our "winter" recipes. It's almost a chili, but not quite. Tastes great over white rice, or serve with cornbread or crackers. Very filling. Recipe does not call for water, but I add some just to give it a little more of a "soupy" quality. (the can sizes on the beans are guesses, I didn't look when I picked them up, use standard size cans).

    My Mom's Fruit Salad
    Handle

This is a simple fruit salad I grew up eating. Mom made this every major holiday meal. It is easy, simple yet delicious. It makes for a nice light side to a good meal. My children love it as do I!

    Grilled Pork Tenderloin
    Handle

Found this recipe at Allrecipes when looking for an easy grilled pork recipe. Turned out very well. Used a meat thermometer to ensure doneness. This was done on a gas grill, so the directions cater to such. Adjust if using a charcoal grill accordingly. Hope you enjoy as much as my family did.

    Recipe #383262

    Select
    Hearty Western Casserole
    Handle

This recipe comes from the Fix it and Forget It Cookbook. As written, it would not have turned out! For starters, 1hour on low did nothing to heat it. Second, it barely made 4 servings, so be warned. Third, you had way more biscuits than actual servings. But the flavor mix had potential, so that's why I'm posting it. I'd recommend playing with ingredient amounts and varied seasonings.

    Recipe #344148

    Grilled Jalapeno Poppers
    Handle

Every summer I have a pepper garden, which produces way more peppers than we can eat! I messed around with various recipes and came up with this one for stuffed jalapeno peppers. Wife and co-workers like it a lot.

    Recipe #340482

    Beer Bread
    Handle

Really good beer bread recipe. Also does well in muffin cups for a change of pace. Remember to pour butter ovr the top and cook for 10 more minutes, made the mistake once to put it all together first then cook- oops.

    Recipe #340480

    Select
    Spinach and Oyster/Clam Dip
    Handle

I've had this recipe for years and only recently tried it. The consistency was great and prep was easy. I'm not a big fan of oysters as they gave it a strong pungent flavor-great for oyster fans, though. I have not tried it with minced clams yet, but I think it will be much tastier for my family.

    Recipe #340471

    Select
    Hamburger Pie
    Handle

This is a recipe my mother made for me as a child. It's comfort food for the family. I have no idea where it came from, but I'm betting BHG or General Mills. Though I've not tried yet I'll bet premade pie crust would cut the time quite a bit.

    Grilled Summer Squash (Easy!)
    Handle
    1 Reviews |  By RHOS

This grilled squash recipe is a little different in that you don't have to slice up your squash prior to grilling, it still cooks up great. Plus it seems to be much easier.

    Steamed Clams (Cheater Version)
    Handle

My family are displaced East Coast Northerners, living in the land locked South. The only huge complaint being no beach and no fresh clams. I was raised eating this version of steamed clams. Now, even my 4 year old and 2 year old love these clams. They beg for them when we see them at the supermarket (which is rare). I get strange looks from the guy behind the counter when I stand there and check the clams for liveness (tapping, thumping, etc). I hope you enjoy them as much as we have.

    Barbecue Dry Rub
    Handle
    1 Reviews |  By RHOS

This is a really good spicy barbecue dry rub. I use it mostly on wings that I marinate 24+/- hours in the fridge, but have also used it on short ribs, too. It is really good, makes a lot. Use 2 tbs or so on 15 or so wings.

    Recipe #153256

    Linguine With Scampi
    Handle

I love seafood, especially shrimp scampi. I found this recipe at Epicurious and to me it is the best shrimp scampi I have ever made at home. It is very rich, but simply delicious.

    Easy Cheesy Grilled Potatoes
    Handle

Found this recipe at cooks.com. My goal in the summer of 2005 was to be "grill master." For Father's Day, my wife cleared out the kids and my gift was to get to grill ALL day long with no other responsibility. This is one of the many recipes I cooked that day.

    Beef and Broccoli Crock Pot
    Handle
    1 Reviews |  By RHOS

I found this recipe on the internet and have since made it several times. As it is very basic, add spices of your choice to increase the flavor. I am unsure of the size of the package of McCormick brown gravy mix so I guessed.

    My Salsa Recipe
    Handle

I found this recipe browsing another recipe site, but don't remember which one. I grow A LOT of hot peppers in the summer, but don't eat them (my wife does). She wanted a homemade salsa, with heat but not overwhelmingly hot. I tweaked the site recipe here and there with this outcome. Wife and co-workers really seem to like it.
