I was looking for a heathy appetizer to take to a party and decided a good garlicy white bean dip would be the choice. A friend had sent me a recipe for a bean dip. I tried the dip and then tweaked it to my taste. This ultimately should be served on pita chips, however not being able to buy those in Holland, I chose to use plain salted tortilla chips. My recipe was a complete success at the party. People loved it and not a drop was left. At first when told of the dip my husband was skeptical of a healthy bean dip. However he raved about it as well.

    Recipe #389849

Being so far away from home, I tend to crave recipes I am unable to get here in Holland. This being one of them! Good ole Cajun and Creole Food. After one of these cravings I decided to do some research and came up with several recipes for Red Beans and Rice. I took bits and pieces from the different recipes, subbed ingredients I was unable to find here and created this easy and tasty recipe. Whenever my husband and I crave Cajun, this fits the bill. Depending on your taste, you may want to add more Cajun spices to suite your family's spiciness of preference. I love to serve this dish alongside grilled pork chops or smoked sausage

    Recipe #389848

This is comfort food, from my childhood. It is my mother's wonderful recipe, that was probably passed on from my grandmother. Typically the Picadillo is made with raisins added as well. I have omitted the raisins in this recipe, as we do not care for them. However if you wish you may add a couple of tablespoons of raisins, at the same time you add the olives. This dish is served with the Picadillo on top of the rice. It goes lovely with salad on the side.

    Recipe #277136

When visiting my family in Spain, I was served a dish similar to this in a Tapa's bar. I have tried to recreate the flavors at home and have come up with this quick recipe. You may serve this over hot cooked rice, or as they did in the Tapa's bar, with a hot crusty bread to mop up the delish sauce!

    Recipe #277110

This dish is quick, easy and delish! It is a tried and true. It is made easier if you use a mini processor or regular size processor. If not you can grate the bread and finely chop garlic and herbs. It is best to use medium to large shrimp, that have been shelled and deveined. This dish never fails to please and has such great flavor for it's simplicity.

    Recipe #277108

I tried this recipe years ago when I found a basic recipe in an old Sunset Living magazine. I have since, in the years, tweaked it to our liking, adding ingredients and changing amounts of others. The cooking at a high temp seals in the moisture of the chicken so that it is always juicy. Do not be alarmed if the outside or skin looks a bit over down, it is not. This is my husband's favorite chicken dish that he request often. Comfort food at it's best! I like to serve this with a green vegetable and rice side dish.

    Recipe #277106

This recipe was given to me by my friend Mary Beth. It such a nice recipe for its simplicity and it's flavors. Using fresh rosemary in this dish is key.

    Recipe #275970

The original recipe I followed was an Emeril's recipe. I have tweaked the recipe to my husband and my taste, so now it is a little different than the original recipe. It is so simple, easy yet has a robust of flavors. It always pleases! All guest I have served this recipe to have loved it.

    Recipe #275796

This brings the fondest of memories! This recipe was from my mother. I have been a spinach fanatic, as long as I can remember. My mother use to fix this dish below upon my request, which was several times a week. I could never get enough, and still this is my favorite way to eat spinach!

    Recipe #275792

This recipe is easy and delicious. I combined two different recipes to come up with this one. My original basic recipe was from my cousin, who, when growing up, cooked traditional Italian foods. I later came across another recipe that was similar, yet had some differences as well. I took what I thought was the best of both and combined them. This is the refined recipe. My husband is not fond of cauliflower, yet loves this recipe. Roasting the cauliflower not only brings out the best of it's flavor, but texture as well. I hope you will enjoy this as much as we do.

    Recipe #275788

This recipe for this dish is one that I received a while back, in one of my cooking classes on American Bistro. I have since changed and added some ingredients to suit my taste. It is a lovely dish, that is fairly quick, easy to make and very tasty. Most ingredients are ones you may have on hand. The sauce is a lovely compliment to the lamb. Served with a side of wild rice and a green salad or veggie, it is a perfect dinner.

    Recipe #201328

This recipe is a creation of mine, that came together after combining 3 different recipes. I was looking to make a new and different recipe for duck breast to surprise my husband. I combined what I thought was the best combination of ingredients and flavors, then further tweaked it after making it several times. I have finally perfected it and it now turns out superb each time. This is my husband's favorite duck recipe and he request it often. It may appear to be a bit putsy, however it actually is easy. The flavors meld perfectly together creating the most complimentary sauce for the duck breast. This is an impressive main coarse to serve guest. I like to pair it with wild rice as it goes well with the richness of the duck and sauce. It is an excellent combination and never fails to get raves from my guest.

    Recipe #201326

My friend Karin, gave me this recipe. It is very easy to make and really yummy when you can find Holland Rivierkreeft (crawfish) in the supermarket or fish store. I have never done so, but I believe you could easily sub shrimp or lobster to the sauce, and it would be just as good.

    Recipe #201321

This is an Emeril recipe that got rave reviews from my family. We love mussels, and here in Holland they are locally cultivated. So during the season we try to have them once a week. I try new recipes frequently to change the pace. This recipe is my husbands favorite and gets requested often. It has an amazing flavor. I have changed it a little to suit my family's taste from the original recipe. Have plenty of crusty bread, as the juice is oh sooooo good! This recipe serves either 2 meal portions or a first course for 4-6 people. Rule of thumb in Holland is to serve 1 kg of mussels per person, for a dinner portion.

    Recipe #187437

This was my cousin's recipe that was one of my favorites from childhood. The flavors are wonderful and the meal is so quick to put together. Just add a nice salad, crusty bread and a glass of italian red wine and you have a fabulous quick and tasty meal.

    Recipe #143125

This is a Rachel Ray recipe I saw her make on the Food Network. I since, have added other ingrediants to create a lovely and simple side dish of herbed broiled tomatoes. It is a wonderful side dish with any grilled meats.

    Recipe #143124

I received this recipe from my coworker Mary, many years ago. Since then, I must say it is my favorite grilled pork chop recipe. The longer you marinade the chops the better. You must marinade at least 4 hours however it is best overnight or a full 24 hours ahead. So simple, yet so delish!

    Recipe #143123

I saw Emeril make this recipe on the Food Network a while back. So I quickly jotted down the ingredients as he cooked. I use this recipe as a quick, easy and nice dinner, on nights I do not have a lot of time. It looks like you make a lot of effort and it has eye appeal. The salmon turns out so moist and flavorful. The results are wonderful and seems to always please everyone. I use Emeril's recipe for his creole seasonings.

    Recipe #142907

This is an easy dish that can be very versatile. I make a large batch and freeze. For an easy dinner you can defrost the ratatouille and add italian sausage or shrimp, while reheating, and serve over pasta. Or pour a bit over a mild white fish and bake. If you wish to make it vegetarian style then add some feta or parmsean and serve over pasta. The meals you can do with this basic recipe are endless.

    Recipe #142905

This is a great recipe for a do ahead breakfast when you have company. It is easy to put together the night before. Just bake the morning of while you prepare the rest of breakfast. I find a nice fruit plate and and crisp fried bacon top off a lovely meal.
