    Almost Crab Cakes
    Handle
    1 Reviews |  By Wineaux

This sounds a little weird, but the taste is astounding!! A good way to get rid of some of that prolific zucchini, too!! Small patties make a great hors d'oeuvre for parties. My experience is that zucchini can have different amounts of juice, so the bread crumbs may need to be increased. Also, more Old Bay can be added to taste.

    Amy's Mud Puddles
    Handle

This recipe was in the Land O Lakes newsletter. Made them last night and they are a winner! I used Hersey's dark chocolate chips and added a teaspoon of vanilla. So quick and easy and chocolatey enough to please my DS, who is a chocolate fanatic. Will be making lots of these for the holidays!

Ancho Chocolate Mousse With Grand Marnier

The Grand Manier gives this dessert that extra special something that keeps 'em coming back for more!

    Apple Flip
    Handle
    1 Reviews |  By Wineaux

When autumn arrives, I especially love the taste of apples! While preparing Sunday brunch, I came up with this simple recipe (if you can call it a recipe) that delivers big flavor with little effort. I'm calling it Apple Flip but I hope you'll call it just plain inspired!! I used Cooks Grand Reserve champagne - inexpensive, but great with this concoction! The measurements are required, but just eyeball the half-and-half combo in your flute!!

    Apple Lips
    Handle

A healthy snack for kids and grownups, too! Vegetarians can substitute the marshmallows with nuts or other small candies that contain no animal product, like vegan marshmallows! Can get the kids involved with making their snack, too. After an adult cuts the apple wedges, the child(ren) can assemble their "lips." How fun!

Masa Harina may be found in the specialty foods section of the grocery store.

    Barbecued Potatoes
    Handle
    2 Reviews |  By Wineaux

This is a delicious side that's great for pot luck or cookout! Easy to make, too. My friend, Betsy, gave me the recipe several years ago and we've been enjoying it ever since. The number of potatoes is a guestimate because another friend, who raises potatoes in her garden, gives them to me and they vary in size.

    Beef Sticks
    Handle

Now's the time to start watching the grocery ads for whole sirloin tip roasts. They usually weigh about 10 pounds, so the cost of making the beef sticks is minimized considerably if you can find a deal on the sirloin. These make great gifts, when presented with a small jar of homemade mustard and a pack of hamemade crackers! Buy the roast, have the butcher trim all the fat and grind into hamburger. Package the meat and freeze until holiday season, if you wish. The liquid smoke is optional, but if you use it, go easy - a little is a lot, with this ingredient. Makes 10 beef sticks

    Bisqueware Ornaments
    Handle

At one of the newspapers where I wrote hard news, I was responsible for a weekly feature called "Now You're Cookin' " During one Christmas season, recipes for clays were in the order of the week. I got the recipes from a complimentary copy of Homemade Good News, published by the Savanah Foods Company. This clay does indeed have the look, feel and texture of of authentic porcelain bisqueware! It can be used for cookie cutter designs and for free-form modeling as well as simple molding techniques. Because you don't bake them (they air dry), there is no color variation. They remain as white as the season's first snowfall! Cook time and "servings" listed are approximate, but close.

    Black Bean Pottage

After trying many recipes for Frijoles Negros, we've decided that this is by far our favorite! It's more time-consuming than some other recipes, but well worth the effort. Prep time does not include time to soak the beans.

This is soooo good, especially with grilled pork and chicken. I tried to locate the source of the recipe, but couldn't find it so, to whomever created it, THANKS!!! I took the liberty of cutting the oil to 1 tablespoon.

    Breakfast Bonanza
    Handle

This is the weirdest sounding recipe, but I enjoyed it very much - and will again and again! Being on a low sodium, low cholesterol diet, I came up with it to satisfy my hungering for a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich that I used to enjoy in fast food restaurants. I prepared the beans without salt, and the egg white, too. You'll have 4 "sausage" patties, enough for 4 sandwiches.Cook time does not include time to cook beans.

    Recipe #252604

    Select
    Bully Hill Coleslaw
    Handle

This recipe is from the Bully Hill wine site. I've found it to be a refreshing, tasty alternative to ordinary coleslaw. Cook time is chill time and the number of servings is an estimate. When we can't get the Sweet Walter White, we use Bully Hill white wine - not quite as sweet, but very good, too!

If anybody has a cookbook called Weird and Delicious, this recipe can surely fit in! I got this from the Uncle Phaedrus, Finder of Lost Recipes website. The tomato juice can actually be a bloody Mary - your choice!

This is a recipe from Woman's Day and one that I have used for several years. Easy and quick, they are always a hit at gatherings. You can make what the DH calls the "real kind" with a liqueur or the "virgin kind" with plain old extract.

    Chocolate Walnut Pie Bars

This is another recipe from Providence RI Journal - a real comfort food, in my book. Easy to make and downright yummy, these bars taste like they were made in Grandma's kitchen - a real keeper!
