I had a large batch of homemade applesauce and couldn't find a recipe that sounded just right. I found this one on allrecipes and made a few alterations for health and ingredients. The cake turned out moist and delicious, and I added a cinnamon glaze from a cake I tried a number of years ago.
I saw this on a food blog and wanted to make it. What better way to change the ingredients to American measure than recipezaar? I haven't made it yet, but I'll assume it's not as sweet as American cheesecakes.
A delicious, colorful soup. Originally a highly rated recipe from allrecipes called "Nanny's Goulash", a friend shared it at a monthly recipe exchange club. We all loved the savory mushrooms. Serve with a loaf of fresh bread or a pan of cornbread. Some of the reviewers on "that other site" served it with brown rice or added macaroni to the soup. I think it's perfect as it is!
This recipe is from my grandmother who comes from a line of cooks with great reputations. I recently saw a very similar recipe in The Complete Book of Soups and Stews (Bernard Clayton Jr.). He calls it Potage aux Poireaux et Pommes de Terre and says that it is to be found in almost every French kitchen. I realized that my grandmother must have picked up the recipe during her year and a half in Tours, France. Simple, delicious, and nutritious.
A delicious savory pastry from the Lion House Restaurant, with some minor changes. A company dish; it may be a little too rich for everyday! Serve with your favorite chicken gravy. This is a great substitute for chicken cordon bleu.
