    Daddy's Pulled Pork- Texan Style!
    Handle

Pork butt was on sale recently for under $1 per lb. In this economy you want to take advantage of those kind of sales. This was perfect for a get together at our place where we needed to feed lots of people over the weekend! This also doubles very well. We smoked 15 lbs using the same recipe, doubling the brine and rub. DH loves Alton Brown, so I gave him Alton's recipe as a place to start. DH must be trained well because he wrote (scribbled all over the printed recipe that is) how he changed it up, gave it back to me and said "Baby, would you post this please?" lol Gotta love that man!

Avocados - Stock up on Sale and Freeze-Tips OAMC
    Handle

Avocados can be expensive, even here in Texas. This is more of a tip than a recipe that I wanted to save for myself and share with y'all. Now I can stock up when they are on sale yet still enjoy them when they are not. Just multiply the recipe for the number of avocados you want to freeze.

    Healthier Meatball Subs
    Handle

Meatball subs are so yummy. NOT on my diet though! So I decided to see if I could make them somewhat healthier. Viola! Though these are still NOT diet food, they are healthy, well HEALTHIER. These would be great football night food, after a night of trick or treating or any night you need something fast and easy. You could even make these vegetarian friendly using vegetarian meatballs and cheese. Enjoy!

    Sparkle Power Bubbles
    Handle

I made these one weekend for a bunch of kids including our grandbabies. They all had a BLAST! We used bubble wands from some store bought bubbles. When the bottles ran out of the small amount of $1 solution we refilled them with this homemade solution that cost less than $1 for a whole gallon!

    Mexican Red Sauce
    Handle

While trying to help my dear friend Mommy Diva find some New Mexico style red chile sauce, I came across this recipe. I just have to try it! According to Diana Kennedy[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diana_Kennedy], Pasilla chilies are a long and skinny variety of chile, while Ancho chilies (dried poblanos) are shorter and wider. However, in certain parts of Mexico, the Ancho chile is called Pasilla, and because of immigration, is commonly known as Pasilla in many parts of the US. See blog here with step by step pictures! http://www.elise.com/recipes/archives/005178mexican_red_chili_sauce.php Prep and cooking time are concurrent Note when working with chilies, either wear protective gloves or wash your hands very thoroughly with soap and warm water after handling the chilies. Do not touch or rub your eyes if you have been handling chili peppers.

    Unstuffed Cabbage Roll Soup
    Handle

This recipe came about after a failed casserole recipe turned into an amazing soup! Who says failure is a bad thing? You could even make this vegetarian/vegan by changing the meat to a veg friendly option and using a veg broth. Hope you enjoy this too!

    Recipe #356366

    Select
    Simply Delicious Honey Spiced Carrots
    Handle

Edited after RSC reviews to make this less sweet. Carrots are a tasty yet budget conscious vegetable. However, cardamom can be an expensive spice so I buy it in bulk at my Health Food Store. That way I can buy just what I need at a fraction of the price charged in the grocery store! Kids generally like baby carrots so why not cook them up as a tasty side dish and get them eating a vegetable with their meal! Remember, DO NOT give honey to children under one year of age! I like to saute the carrots as that brings out the sweetness of the carrots but steam them if you prefer. Hope you enjoy this creation!

    Recipe #354035

    Cosmo'lite'
    Handle

Seems like I am always dieting - perpetually! This drink is "Lighter' and lower in calories so I can still enjoy in moderation, of course! Hope you enjoy it too!
