This was adapted from a recipe in Thanksgiving 101. If you make it ahead and fill an electric roaster or slow cooker, your house will smell wonderful on Thanksgiving Day. If you invite 16 people, this should make enough punch.
This was adapted from another vegan pumpkin pie recipe. It won a taste-test comparison against a non-vegan pumpkin pie a few years ago. Wholly Wholesome makes a gluten-free frozen pie shell that's vegan. If you can't find it, this pie is better crustless than unmade. Organic pumpkin didn't crack like the Libby's brand did.
Green Bean Casserole is a must for Thanksgiving dinner, some think. Your local Asian grocer may carry fried red onions (shallots), but if not, the only way to make it gluten-free is to fry your own onions. If you don't own a mandoline or v-slicer, this might be a good time to purchase one. The good news is that the rest of the ingredients are store-bought, thanks to canned french-style green beans and a vegan gluten-free mushroom soup from Imagine Foods.
This recipe was adapted from one from Living Without magazine. As they say, "the better the ingredients, the better the end result, so use delicious homemade bread, if possible". We used a rice bread from a gluten-free bakery and did not like the result. We've since moved on to veganize/gluten-free an old Betty Crocker Bread Stuffing recipe (see that recipe) from our Standard American Diet days, but if this one sounds more appealing, try it.
This recipe was a Betty Crocker favorite from our Standard American Diet days. We veganized and substituted gluten-free bread. It's is pretty tasty (especially topped with a little Easy Gravy...see that recipe), but next time we'll reduce the fat by half and include a half-cup (maybe more) of Kitchen Basics brand vegetable broth, which we'll sprinkle over the bread cubes to soften them up a little.
This recipe was veganized from the recipe found in Vegetarian Cooking: Exciting Ideas for Delicious Meals published by Crescent Books. Make two if you're serving more than a dozen people for Thanksgiving because it's a popular dish. It's easy to make.
