This was given to me by a friend. Grill the steaks( or fillets) in a grill basket that has been coated with oil to prevent sticking.
I served this with Terrific tomato salad recipe #186138 and a mix of wild , brown and white rice. It was superb.
I am posting this so i can remember exactly how I made this. I'm not a fan of the classic casserole recipe and this was the result. DH said it was the best ever ( thank you thank you ) I used my own frozen green beans, which may have added to how good it was. Try it; youll like my version.
If you follow this method of cooking basmati rice it will be perfect and fluffy every time; the rinsing is very important as it removes alot of the starch. It is best to use a rice cooker, but can be cooked in a saucepan with equal success.
This recipe came from a book i am reading " Bread Alone " I havent tried it yet, but it looks delicious.I didnt have any bourbon in the house otherwise i would try it..Any brave souls out there who can give this a "shot" ( 'scuse the pun )
My Dh had a horrible head cold and couldnt taste anything, and i had tons of tomatoes from the garden, he pronounced this soup tasty and soothing, the cayenne pepper gives it a kick. To serve for company drizzle a little heavy cream over the top and chopped chives. The parmesan is optional, try the soup first to decide if you want it , because it does change the flavour quite a bit.
This is a nice way to use up corn from your freezer, I had 6 frozen ears from last years crop that I used for this dish. I used hot banana peppers, as i had then in my garden but any kind of hot pepper would do. You could also add some heavy cream at the end but i chose not to this time.Best cooked in a cast iron skillet.
This recipe was passed down by my Mother; she made batches of it every year, using the apples from our orchard. i have been making it for the last 2 yrs and get several requests for jars of it. it is wonderful with cold meats and cheese and i always add it to my sandwiches.
