If you like coconut I guarantee you're going to love these cookies! The recipe can easily be cut in half if you desire less than 5 dozen cookies. Recipe Source: "Farm Journal's Best-Ever Recipes" cookbook.

    Recipe #413144

This is one of my most treasured recipes, it came from a friend who worked as a manager at a community restaurant years ago. The meat mixture is made from ground beef, onion, and ketchup, a bit of vinegar and sugar, and the secret ingredient being chili powder. Choose any type of bun you wish, then slap on some of this great tasting meat. This recipe serves 5 people with about 3/4 cup meat mixture per person. The recipe can easily be doubled.

    Recipe #412695

I've served this hearty soup for as long as I can remember. I think the liquid smoke really flavors the soup nicely and the absence of ham is not a drawback. BE SURE NOT TO ADD ANY SALT OR PRODUCTS THAT CONTAIN SALT TO THE SOUP BEFORE THE SPLIT PEAS HAVE BECOME TENDER! I generally make this soup into a stew by adding more carrots and potatoes. This makes a large kettle of soup, so unless you're serving a lot of people, you won't need to double the recipe. The split peas will need to be soaked 1 hour before you begin making the soup (see directions).

These cookies are a favorite! They're one of those crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, type of cookie, and I think you'll love how they turn out! The recipe came from our community cookbook.

A good friend served this delicious coffee cake to a woman's group I belong to. The cake is extremely moist and the topping is delightful.

    Recipe #421434

This is a fabulous brownie recipe! My good friend shared it with me years ago. I think you'll love it.

    Recipe #415060

Trust me when I tell you this is one of the best banana cakes you will ever eat! One of my good friends shared this fantastic recipe with me many years ago-I hope you love the cake as much I do. (Note: To quickly ripen bananas, place in a brown paper grocery sack and tightly close top of sack. Check bananas periodically and remove from the bag when peels have turned completely black).

    Recipe #414969

A friend shared this recipe with me a very long time ago. The recipe renders a fork-tender and very moist and flavorful brisket. BE AWARE: The beef takes about 4 to 5 hours to bake. There are some minimal beef preparations that need to be done the night before you wish to serve the brisket. The recipe calls for FLAT beef brisket-you'll find it sold as a FLAT CUT or POINT CUT. The flat cut is leaner, but the point cut has more flavor, due to a bit of extra fat.

    Recipe #412707

Rust stains from metal outdoor furniture can be removed from concrete by using fresh lemon juice. Our front concrete porch had several rust stains due to an outdoor wooden bench with metal legs. I tried a couple lemon juice applications to the stains and was astonished at how well the treatment worked!!!

    Recipe #397893

This recipe came from my neighbor. The secret to this moist bread is to allow the banana peels to turn completely black. Tip: To ripen bananas quickly, place them in a brown paper grocery sack, then close the bag and wait for peels to blacken. .

    Recipe #394937

My husband gives this recipe thumbs up with a 10 star rating. I hope this gives you an indication of just how good this barbecue beef is. DON'T LET THE LENGTH OF THIS RECIPE SCARE YOU-IT'S REALLY A VERY, VERY EASY RECIPE! I clipped the recipe out of our local Sunday newspaper several years ago. The recipe received such rave reviews they decided to run the recipe a second time. The barbecued beef must be refrigerated at least 8 hours before serving in order for the sauce flavors to absorb into the meat. You will find that the prepared bbq beef freezes extremely well, without sacrificing any flavor (see Note). One 4.16-pound chuck roast will give you approximately 15 servings (1/2 cup each).

    Recipe #394433

This recipe came from an old premier issue of "For the Love of Cross Stitch" magazine-I'd like to make it sometime.

    Recipe #394312

This creamy fruit salad was served at a family reunion a number of years ago. Flaked coconut or chopped walnuts be substituted for the maraschino cherries. Also, sliced fresh fruit may be added to the salad, if desired (see note).

    Recipe #393659

I've made this thick stew for many years, it's a family favorite. If I recall, the recipe came from a Woman's Day magazine. This is a quick meal with great flavor!

    Recipe #393370

This dessert brings out the best in any peach. The recipe was printed in the 2006 Better Homes and Gardens magazine and comes from Tricia Cyman, owner of Devil's Thumb Ranch in the state of Colorado. Cooking apples may replace the peaches, if desired (see note).
