A tasty and attractive composed salad of dilled tuna, capers, green onions and cucumber-- the perfect summer lunch! Easy to make. Serve chilled with crisp whole wheat crackers or a baguette, and perhaps a nice glass of chardonnay.

    Recipe #381527

A great tasting family breakfast smoothie that is also good for you; add the rum for an adult version, if you like. You can sub strawberries for the mango and papaya to make strawberry pineapple banana smoothies. Yum.....

    Recipe #381181

This tropical hot buttered rum sauce is FANTASTIC, if I do say so myself! So good over vanilla ice cream and caramelized sliced bananas! -Or-, drizzle over pancakes, waffles, sliced fruit, puddings, or ice cream. It's good over just about anything--YUM!! Use a good dark rum such as Myers or Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, and don't skip the fresh squeezed lime juice, which makes this sauce pop! I hope you enjoy!

Richly fragrant golden saffron rice pilaf (pilau) that's delicately scented with rose water & studded with pistachios, almonds, and sultanas, combined with moist, tender chunks of chicken infused with lemon, yogurt and musky spices: this is a FABULOUS one-dish meal! Inspired by a Nigella Lawson recipe, from one of her cookbooks. Wonderful served warm, or at room temperature. Enjoy!

    Recipe #380409

Made with petite new potatoes, crisp red apple, and fresh garden herbs! A lovely alternative to regular potato salad, with the addition of tarragon and lovage! Lovage is a wonderful old-fashioned herb, very similar to celery, but a little stronger in taste and with a hint of anise -- a new addition to my herb garden and it is quickly becoming one of my favorites! You may substitute celery for the lovage, if you wish.

    Recipe #380165

Serve this luscious Lemon Verbena Syllabub dessert cream in pretty glasses, as is -or- layered with a homemade herb or fruit sorbet or simply accompanied with fresh fruits and berries of the season! A lovely finale for a special occasion meal. Very quick and easy to prepare.

    Recipe #380131

This is such a delicious combination of flavors--vanilla and lemon--YUM!!! And so easy, too! Serve with a drizzle of recipe #171999, or a splash of Limoncello. Would be very attractive served in hollowed-out lemons. Recipe uses 2 medium lemons. From "Luscious Lemon Desserts".

A fruity chutney with a spicy kick! Goes great with roast meats or sausages, cheddar cheese, or as a spread for sandwiches. I like to make at the height of summer, when tomatoes are at their peak flavor. Lovely canned or frozen for gift giving.

Mouthwatering!!! This makes great sandwiches: combine sliced roasted pork loin with frisee and serve on slices of baguette drizzled with a rosemary-basil pesto sauce.

This tart is wonderful picnic, potluck or party food--it's great served warm, cold or at room temperature! Simple and very tasty, I often make this tart when fresh zucchini are in season. For ease of preparation, I've used a crescent roll crust, but you may use a regular shortcrust pastry if you wish. You will need a 9 or 10-inch tart tin with a removable bottom. P.S. If you don't have a tart or quiche pan, just use a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.

    Recipe #378799

An easy, great tasting appetizer! From Simple & Delicious.

A refreshing apple and nut salad, with the addition of fresh mint! I use a mixture of crisp apples including galas and pink ladies--- I don't peel them, but you may peel your apples if you wish. Please feel free to adjust the amount of honey to suit your taste. Note: Best made with a fresh light tasting mint such as spearmint or lemon-mint; cook time is chill time.

    Recipe #378468

A magical love potion for your Summer solstice celebration, savored outside on a warm, balmy night under the stars! Summer's sweet ripe red strawberries and vodka, kirschwasser and strawberry liqueur are shaken then poured over ice into a highball glass, topped-up with sparkling Schweppes Russian and served with a fresh strawberry garnish! Enchanting! Recipe adapted from Celtnet.

These are the BEST! I've been making this recipe for over 20 years now, and it's always a HIT with my family and friends! Great for BBQ's, potlucks, camping etc. Can be made in the oven or in the crockpot, and it freezes and reheats well.

Summer on a platter! This salad is lovely in it's rustic simplicity. The tarragon adds a delicate anise note, different than the usual basil and tomato combination. Just add crusty chunks of bread to soak up the aromatic dressing, it's practically a meal in itself. Enjoy...

    Recipe #376972

The Provencal version of pesto, this pistou is enlivened with the addition of Pernod! Stir into soups (particularly suited to tomato or minestrone soup; garnish with fennel), or spread onto slices of garlic-rubbed toasted baguette. Delicious!

    Recipe #376891

A lovely seasoning blend from northern California's Napa Valley region, and a great variation on the classic herbes de Provence! Use in vegetable, meat, fish and poultry dishes or in rubs, sauces, and gravies. Courtesy Michael Chiarello.

    Recipe #376859

Crisp on the outside, and soft and custardy on the inside-- I can’t imagine anything more lovely to serve at wine tastings or with a glass of champagne than a choux pastry (the same type you would make eclairs or cream puffs with) plus shredded cheese. And, these fancy little cheese puffs are really quite easy to prepare. Gougères are typically made with Gruyère cheese and thyme, or you can substitute any hard cheese and herbs you desire in the recipe (try gouda or farmhouse mature white cheddar with herbes de Provence or recipe #376859). Or, make them larger to be filled (try finely chopped ham, sausage or orange marmalade). Best eaten the same day. I've slightly adapted the original recipe which is from the world-famous Tartine Bakery in San Francisco, California.
