One if the best things about going to grandmas house was waking up to Cocoa and Bisquits, she called it black gravy. My children love it and request it often. It is Chocolate gravy on bisquits. I usually double the recipe, and top mine with extra butter. When I was small I didn't want the bisquits, just a bowl of cocoa.
When I make fudge, I like to make a 9 x 13 pan so I have plenty to share. This is really good. I keep it in the refrigerator. My DH likes it to sit out and get stale for weeks and then he likes it better. Men!!
This is made with basic ingredients and I can't stop eating it, so I try not to make it often. Its like a fudgy brownie with no chocolate. The edges are the best. It is very rich so you may want to cut it into small squares. I got the recipe from a book called "Derby Entertaining".
I serve this every year for Christmas brunch, Easy and good. After I make it I put it in the crockpot on low on the buffet and its always a big hit. I usually double the recipe ( I sometimes double the recipe and still use only 1/2 lb. sausage).
My DH never had this growing up. To someone not used to chicken and dumplings, he did'nt like the "doughballs", until I made this recipe, now its a family favorite, and easy too! I usually double the recipe. I serve with baked potato and cornbread. I serve it in a bowl, it is soupy.
