This is a salad I grew up with. It is wonderful as a garnish for churrasco. If you think you can't possibly eat raw onions, the secret is to soak the sliced onions in ice water or sprinkle them with sugar and leave them in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. That will take away some of the pungency. Then when you eat them, cut the rings into smaller pieces with your fork and knife.. Posted fro ZWT7. Found in:http://www.maria-brazil.org/onion_salad.htm

This delicious light dessert is very similar to tiramisù but it is based on lighter ingredients. Grandama prepared this often after heavy meals, we always enjoyed it as my children too. Sometimes she prepared this with alkermes, but usually she preferred the coffee version. This is her original recipe.

We all like potatoes, but I don’t like stirring them in the pan. For this reason we usually prepare this in the oven: less work, more crispy and less oil! Posted for ZWT7

This divine, moist and exotic dessert is a combination of coconut and spices. Traditionally cooks oven-bake puligi or steam it in an “imu”, or underground oven. In this recipe you will find other methods that allow you to prepare it easily at home. Enjoy this warm (but not hot) with vanilla ice cream, cold with hot custard or simply plain. Posted for ZWT7.

This traditional Cretan recipe is one of our favorite Greek dishes. I had this many times in a restaurant and wanted to reproduce this at home. The original recipe includes 3 kinds of Cretan cheeses (mizithra, malaka and staka), but it is almost impossible to find our Crete cheeses and we have to substitute it with different ones. Spearmint is essential for this recipe!
