We all know lemon juice or vinegar added to milk can create a buttermilk substitution. The acid in buttermilk helps baking soda do its job. Here is an option with a less obtrusive flavor.

    Recipe #511037

With 2 avocado trees, I am always on the look-out for good recipes. I found this in the December 2014 O Magazine. I am not clear whether this is 2 large Haas or buttery Florida style avocados....experimenting will tell.

    Recipe #510984

Presentation of this is truly STRIKING!!......standing up on the platter!!!! I started out with a different recipe from this site. However I made so many changes I decided to enter my own recipe. Make it your own!

    Recipe #510091

What a great twist on salted caramel....the bourbon!!!! I took this out of the December 2013 Bon Appetit.

    Recipe #509912

    Recipe #509910

Tamarind will become a kitchen staple, once you try it. This recipe is from December 2013 Bon Appetit. If you like pad Thai, it is a must in a "real" recipe.

    Recipe #509908

Found this in December 2013 Redbook. It is a nice variation on the sugar cookie - grown up style. I suspect I will use more rum than the recipe shows.

    Recipe #509825

I like the idea of sweet AND savory. I saw the recipe in O magazine. However, I have offered a few other options. Remember, cooking is all about choice.....every time. The recipe specified raw nuts.....however use what you've got! Mix it up use other nuts. Add other savory herbs. . Use a different zest. Use all honey or try some agave.

    Recipe #509582

This is the easiest!!! Use dark or milk chocolate to your taste! You can be adventurous and add nuts.

    Recipe #508992

I love butternut squash. I love red onions. I love veggies roasted.

    Recipe #507870

This is great for Thanksgiving or any time. What I like about this is I get to have "variety" in one dish. All quantities are plus/minus. Feel free to add other root veggies like turnips, sweet potatoes, etc. People who claim not to like one or more of the roots, simply won't notice they are there. Variation on recipe in an old Woman's Day.

    Recipe #507867

Having a bilimbi in he yard, I am on the lookout for recipes. This is varied from one by Chef Paul Heerlein.

    Recipe #507143

This is a variation on my Recipe # 451934 I did to make shredded pork for a taco bar. If you don't have hatch chiles, use another or a mix.

    Recipe #506959

This is great on tacos or as a side. Fresh and "food safe" for a picnic or potluck. This is a variation of the slaw on Recipe # 459572

    Recipe #506956

A friend made this recently and just went on and on about how good it was. I have no measurements so you will get to "wing it."

    Recipe #506390

Ever want something like brownies and have NO sugar or chocolate chips or bittersweet chocolate in the house? This will fit the bill

    Recipe #506389

My avocado trees and in full production and my star fruit just started it's 2nd crop for the year. Having no tomatoes in the yard or house, I made this up. It is very tasty. The star fruit creates a smooth guac. I left all the quantities to taste as we all like it slightly differently. Use it for dip, in place of mayo on a sandwich or as a side to fish......or wherever you want.

    Recipe #506232

This appeared in Bon Appetit August 2013 as Strozzapreti with...... Make you own pasta and it will be great. However, don't let that stop you.....use any pasta you like.

    Recipe #506066

Have you ever needed BBQ Sauce and not have time enough to make it? This is a great TASTY solution. It is also easy to manage the heat. It has a rich flavor when you tell people you made it, they will think you slaved over it for hours

    Recipe #506065

I found this on Food 52 while waiting for something. What a tasty idea.
