It's fast, it's easy (when we go through so many) and it's delicious.
I've hung onto this recipe for years, knowing that I would need it one day. And this Christmas I will be using it. I thought I'd post it so as not to lose it.
It's a puff pastry case in the shape of a pine tree, stuffed with a mixture of rice, boursin cheese and mushrooms. Decorate the tree with pastry scraps, cut out into the shape of baubles and stars.
It looks festive enough to be a crowd pleaser, veggie or not.

I substitute the can of pinto beans for a can of beans in barbecue sauce. And I must confess, the sizes are approximate - the original recipe just says 1 can or 1 packet.
A recipe I came across on Donatella's Dish on Yahoo! Food. It sounds intriguing and I'd like to try it. I am a bit puzzled by the addition of egg yolks in the pastry.
Donatella says this is a delicious tart, not at all gummy and quite tart. The crust is baked before the filling is poured and chilled. According to her it is a big hit.
I've guessed the times but there is a fair bit of resting and cooling.
My children loved this chicken dish. It's easy and delicious. I think it is from BBC Good Food magazine. The times are approximate as you can, if you wish, leave them in the marinade for up to two days.
My mother in law is coming to visit and we wanted to welcome her with blackberries, fruit of her childhood. Unfortunately the summer has been so hot, they're all over. We managed to find a half cup full which we used in this recipe. It's very nice loaf and I should imagine, would taste even better with more blackberries. Do not peel the apple.
South Africans love this pudding. The recipe is up on the site but this is the one I took to our "do" at MarieAlice's house and I promised to post it.

An interesting bread - more like a roll, really - that my daughter made yesterday. She made in in the "dough" cycle of the breadmaker - it proved far too wet and so we added more flour. The instructions are for hand made and I don't know if this will affect the wetness/dryness. The extra flour wasn't a problem.
The salt isn't included in the dough making. This is the one change I would make - I'd add some salt to the dough as well as sprinkling sea salt on top. The breads are quite flat.BTW strong flour is the English name for bread flour. From a recipe card with no name on it.
A vegetarian dish which I use when I'm tired of meat. Simple to make and tasty. From Leith's Recipe of the Day. My children like it, my husband loves it. Can be made ahead and reheated. It will take 40 minutes to reheat from cold.
From a tin of soup - I love tarragon chicken - my kids don't. This way we both enjoy our mid week supper. I seldom have wine - so use water or milk. And I like to use fresh tarragon - simply because I have it, not because I'm snobbish about such things! Serve with vegetables.
I should make this more often. I like it,and it uses yogurt which I make myself, often having a surplus. It comes from Healthy Living. I often use commercial breadcrumbs, for speed. If, like me, you find washing leeks a chore, slice them down the length of the leek through to the centre, then slice them again into rings. Shove them into a sink full of water and swish. The rings seperate into strips, making sure all the soil is easily removed.

Went to the Earl's Court food show and fell in love with Giorgio Locatelli - and his turkey meatballs. They're delicious. We tasted them at the show - made by Giorgio's own hands!
They can be used for appetisers or as part of a meal. Giorgio stores them in the sauce for ages! Not being a turkey lover,I bought some turkey just to make these! They need chilling time and infusing time, but can be made ahead. You can chop the turkey in a food processor.
