    This recipe is from a Japanese Mushroom company called Yukiguni Maitake Corporation. I bought some maitake mushrooms at a local japanese market and wanted to add the recipe here so that I can find it tomorrow when I plan to cook them! I would image you could use regular "gringo" mushrooms too. But I have read that the health benefits of maitake mushrooms is really really good- especially for cancer.

    From Martha Stewart. These are YUMMY! And unlike some of her recipes, they are really easy. I make them in big batches as fall gifts (great for Thanksgiving teacher's gifts). Be sure to use real maple syrup- none of that fake junk

    A friend made this for breakfast at our MOPS meetings (Mothers of Preschoolers). They were always a hit!! Very YUMMY but not low fat! I make them every year for our Christmas morning relative open house (if you have kids, you know what I mean- all the grandparents and friends stop by to bring the kids something...). Not a big hit with the kids but the adults love it- and it is REALLY EASY!. Of course, it could be made for dinner as well. However, this tastes nothing like authentic Chile Rellenos. Yummy- but not authentic. PS- Not spicy unless you substitute in another kid of chile for the diced green canned chilies.

    This is a really unique twist on peppermint bark that I made this Christmas and everyone loved. It is so easy too! The recipe comes from Martha Stewart's Everyday Food but I tweaked it a little to suit my tastes and made the prep easier. One thing I did that was not called for, that you can leave out if you choose, is I melted peppermint chocolate chips (they are called "UFOs" from Trader Joes- the best grocery store ever!) and dipped the bottoms in. Next time I will probably just melt them and drizzle over the top.

    Great for Christmas morning as you make it the night before and pop it in the oven for about an hour. It's really yummy and SO EASY! There are a few other french toast casserole dishes here, but none quite like this one. My friend Kathy made this for a ladies brunch/book club and everyone loved it. I had to have the recipe!

    Another champagne punch perfect for showers. This one uses champagne and wine. I have made it for 3 showers now and people tell me it is the best one they have ever had. Really pretty with strawberries or raspberries floating in it- use frozen ones and it helps keep it cold.

    You can use any firm fish for this recipe- I have used flounder-aka sole, mahi mahi, halibut and tilapia. It makes a wonderfully easy baked fish with tomatoes, kalamata olives, caper, onions and white wine. It is my absolute favorite way to make fish! I got the recipe from here but do not see it posted anymore so I will added it again for everyone to enjoy- it is SO EASY and SO GOOD!

    I love steamed fish in black bean sauce! It is my favorite item to order at our local authentic Chinese Food restaurant. They add tofu, but I have read so much about how unhealthy tofu is lately, that I avoid all soy when possible. This recipe came from the 3 Hungry Tummies blog and I'm posting here so that I don't loose it because it was yummmmmy! I made a few changes to the original recipe, and I am posting it changed here. Furmented Black Beans are NOT canned black beans!! You can find them on Amazon or if you are lucky enough to live close to an Asian grocery store like I am in So Cal, you can find them there.

I made these last night and used them for bean and cheese burritos and my 12 year old (who we just started GF) didn't even blink (which means she didn't know they weren't "normal" tortillas! This recipe is from King Arthur Flour and there are two reasons I am posting here- the big one is that I want to be able to find it quickly, the second one is that I tweeked it a touch and I want to be sure to remember my tweeks because there were soooooooo good!     I found this recipe on the website cakecentral.com. They referred to it as Yellow Butter Cake from the Mermaid Bakery, but since I have no way of knowing for sure which Mermaid Bakery this came from,(there was no Mermaid Bakery when I goggled it, but a couple different variations- like mermaids bakery, little mermaid bakery, etc), so I left it out of the title :) A great from scratch version of a basic box cake- but here you can actually pronounce the ingredients! Unlike most yellow cake box mixes! The possibilities are endless for this one!! *** Note: all ingredients should be room temp- yes, it does make a difference!

    Yes, there are other Potato Leek Soups listed, but this is my neighbor's favorite and I don't want to loose the recipe. We make it for him in exchange for all the tools we borrow and all the handyman work we convince him to do! (Thanks Sean!) The recipe originally came from another recipe website, but I forgot to write which one when I copied it over by hand! Be sure to rinse the leeks well! The best way is to slice the end off, slice off most of the green part (it stays too firm for the soup), then slice it in half- long way (like you would a sandwich roll). Now rinse well, being sure to get water into each ring of the leek. It makes them easier to slice too :0)

    Warning...this recipe is not for the faint of heart :o) It is just a tad labor intensive, but after watching two contestants get eliminated on Top Chef- Washington DC for not making a puff pastry from scratch and being told how bad their frozen, premade ones tasted, I had to find a recipe for it. This one is courtisy of Emeril Lagasse and is taken from a recipe for an Apple Tart Tatin with Homemade Puff Pastry. But I wanted to single out the Puff Pastry so that I could find it when I wanted to make something with it. PS- In case you were wondering- Yes, cake flour can make a big difference.Sometimes you can get away with using regular flour...sometimes not! Not sure about this recipe yet, but I don't plan on risking it.

    Similar to another Sesame Chicken Pasta Salad recipe posted here, but different enough to post it. I get lots of requests for this recipe when I make this. If you have a Trader Joes close by or any other well stocked grocery store, try using Orange Champagne Vinegar instead of plain White Wine Vinegar- yummmm. Be sure to allow the pan to cool some before you add the soy sauce in step 4, otherwise it will splatter everywhere!!
