I made this tonight, and it was so delicious. I finished it off in the oven just to make sure it was baked through. I served it with spaghetti and marinara sauce, salad and hard rolls. EVERYONE loved it, how often can you say that? AND it was quick. This one is a keeper.
From Family Fun Magazine: "Crisp fall weekends bring on hearty appetites, and this single-layer cake, which owes much of its moist sweetness to applesauce, is a sure way to satisfy. A quartet of baking spices and vanilla extract give it a distinctive flavor -- and provide lots of opportunity for budding bakers to measure and mix. It's a special treat to come home to after a game of soccer or an afternoon walk in the woods."
We have a Kobe's Japanese Steakhouse here in North Carolina that is delicious! I've tried several recipes for this sauce that they served with all of their hibachi grill items, but this is the closest. This is from Cathy Gates from the Cookbook "Mixing it up with Massey"Enjoy!
