Cheap, warm, really fast dinner from canned food items. My mom used to brown a pound of ground beef and mix it in, but I don't bother as long as I have a can of good chili. Serve with cheese and crumbled crackers, or have cornbread on the side. It's dinner in 10 minutes!
Peanut butter play dough sounded like a great idea...but why do all the recipes have powdered milk as an ingredient? I don't know about you, but to me powdered milk seems kind of expensive to use for this. So, I wondered - would flour work? Answer: yes. Ingredient amounts are approximate.
Whoops. We're out of milk and the kids want breakfast. What's fast, good, at least as nutritious as Fruity Pebbles, and warm to boot? Breakfast rice! It's the cinnamon that really convinced my dubious children they were getting a treat.
I remember a long time ago looking in a cookbook my mom had (for fun kid meals) where they made pirate ships out of the sandwiches. These are probably nothing like that, but that old recipe was my inspiration for a twist on tuna sandwiches that had my kids clapping their hands with glee.
