A Greek baked macaroni dish that will surely please anyone! This recipe came from a friend's mother (yes - she is Greek!). According to her, any grated cheese will do. I have made this with cheddar, with mozzarella, and with a mixture of parmesan and romano. It is delicious whatever you use!
A perfect starchy accompaniment to poultry or beef ... my mom used to serve this at outdoor summertime parties. We always use small red potatoes because they are prettier - but really any boiling potato will do!
Easy, basic and absolutely delicious! A recipe from an old church cookbook of my grandmother's from southern Connecticut.
Note: I often make this dish vegetarian by subbing any assortment of vegetables for the chicken. It's delicious any way you make it!
A delicious and healthy side salad. Buglur is high in fiber and low in fat, rich in B vitamins, iron, phosphorous and manganese and has been a staple of the Mediterranean diet for thousands of years. This recipe is so simple and yet each flavor blends perfectly together. Originally found in one of my South Beach Diet cookbooks, this recipe has been tweaked just a bit to suit my tastes.
Note: prep time includes time for bulgur to soak in water.
In my house growing up one got to choose their birthday dinner meal. This one was always my first choice. Mom makes the best swedish meatballs - they are different from the standard heavy, thick gravy appetizer and instead are light and fluffy with a hint of sweet and spice. When I grew up mom gave me the recipe. My husband just told me the other day that I've finally perfected it and mine taste just like mom's. (I'll never tell her that, though - her's will always be "the best"!)
I first found this recipe on the foodnetwork.com, courtesy of Alton Brown. After making it a few times and tweaking it a bit here and there (my husband and I try to eat healthy), I now make it regularly just the way I like it! Hope you enjoy.
