These are ice pack "recipes" - I was told how to make these for my husband after surgery. I double bag these and use gallon size bags.
External Use Only - goes without saying!
Note: Never apply an ice pack directly to the skin as it can cause frostbite. Always(!!!) wrap ice packs in a towel or cloth before applying to skin!
These meatballs are so good and so easy! You could serve them with a wonderful tomato pasta and sauce, or on a split roll for a delish sandwich. Very good leftover and I would bet they freeze well.
I grind my own beef and pork using my food processor.
I use very lean meat and there isn't any grease in my pan after cooking. (Use a nonstick mini muffin pan)
During a wonderful Italian vacation we ate a meal at a Jewish/Vegetarian restaurant in Rome. I had the Eggplant....it was so wonderful. I have tried to recreate it. It is very rich and tasty. Use an oven-proof baking dish.
These are the best mushrooms, a meal in itself. Very rich and addicting. The wine gives these wonderful mushrooms a delicious bite.
If you are preparing steak for the grill and you find yourself with trimmings from the steak (fat, bone) - put in with the mushrooms. Remove any fat and bone before serving. I suppose you could cut back on the butter if you use steak trimmings.
Christmas candy - Two kinds of chocolate with peppermint chips. Yummy! So pretty, and great for gift giving. I have used chocolate bark (dark and white) with good results and it was less expensive, and hardens up beautifully
Great Red Beans and Rice recipe. A friend of mine gave me this recipe several years ago and I am posting here for safe keeping. I realize this is a very Southern dish and I hope ingredients are available ....I have used a different type of bean when I couldn't find the traditional red beans.
Of course hot sauce is necessary in this recipe! I serve it on the side.
Preperation time does not include the beans that soak overnight.
If you love okra and have fresh okra available, you need to try this recipe.
It's a little different, but in a good way - the flavors of the bacon, okra, onion and tomatoes all sauteed together, yummy.
From an old Time Life "Foods of the World" cookbook - "American Cooking: The Great West".
One of my summer recipes that my husband loves.
