K.I.S.S. stands for "Keep It Simple, Stupid". My mom wasn't a whiz in the kitchen, although we never went hungry. This is one of the few things that everyone asks her to make. It's simple, hearty, inexpensive and tasty. This freezes well and the leftovers are SUPER.
I call this "Magic Spaghetti Salad", because when you serve it, turn your head, and look back, it has DISAPPEARED! A true family-pleaser...everyone loves this dish. Simple and inexpensive.
***PLEASE NOTE*** "cooking time" below includes marinating time.
My husband spent some time living down south while he was in the Coast Guard. His all time favorite dish from that area is "Biscuits and Gravy". I tried for 8 years, unsuccessfully, to come up with a version of sausage gravy to satisfy his craving and fond remembrances of "southern" sausage gravy. Until I found this little gem. It's a combination of a few recipes posted in response to a request I made in the 'Zaar "Recipe Request" form last year. I make it with MaryAlice's Baking Powder Biscuits (#87258) every time.
A neat idea for gift giving or for those special occasions where you want to "dress up" plain old chocolate covered strawberries. Very easy and relatively inexpensive, especially compared to the store-bought ones.
**yield stated below depends on how many of the strawberries are good enough to use, per carton**
One of the "old standards" that I get a lot of requests for when we have get-togethers. It's also nice because you can make it a day or two ahead of time and i actually prefer it that way. Kid-friendly, too.
I was scouring the net, looking for fun ideas to send with my daughter as snack for her Kindergarten class. These caught my eye and we plan on making them next week! Prep time includes time to mix and bake the cupcakes prior to decorating.
