I made these at Christmas and they are a hit in our household. I posted this on another site and forgot to post here, unbeleivable as this is always my first stop looking for my recipes.So now here it is. These are time tricky to bake, so watch carefully as with all gluten free they seem to brown so fast and the next thing you know gone just a tad to far. So I suggest that you time back a test cookie, to see how they spread and bake up, then cool to adjust the baking time also for final crispness.

This is the yeast risen fruit bread that we bought all the time at A & P stores besides the Spanish Bar. Never a week went buy without it in the house. Sliced up and served with orange coloured ( squeeze the bubble) margarine. That was a job we fought over to do. Now we make out own bread and serve with butter, a much better duo. The mixed fruit in the recipe is the glaced sticky fruits and peel that you buy for Christmas cakes, and glaced cherries.

This recipe is from Anne O'Rielly, Kim and Erins grandmother. She gave this recipe to me when I was doing a lot of baking for Christmas boxes and showers. This is similar to Oatmeal Date squares or Matrimonial cake, only it uses raisins in the flling with the dates.

When growing up I used to eat a nice homemade chicken soup at my girlfriends house. In it was a 2 inch square flat dumpling instead of our fulffy dumplings that my mom made in our stews. This is my friends recipe.
