    I snatched this recipe from my childhood friends when they made it for me on New Years Eve a few years ago. It's a great dish to make with another person, and lends itself well to beginner cooks in that you can't mess it up too easily. I've modified the original to serve 4, so if you'd prefer to make it to serve more, a doubled recipe of these ingredients will cook well in a 9"x13" pan at the same temperature for 45-50 minutes. The sauce is my own, and has a little bit of a kick to it, but would be fine with any tomato-based sauce.

    I made this recipe after reading a number of shrimp & grits recipes, and not finding one that incorporated all the flavors I wanted, made my own. It turned out quite nicely, so I'm sharing. The sauce is light in terms of volume, rather than being like a soup, and has a lot of different flavors packed into it.

    Quick, easy side dish with a subtle kick. * I originally found this recipe in Jane Kirby's Glamour's Gourmet on The Run (1987), and have since simplified it and reduced the number of ingredients (I'm a cheap college student)--but I recommend checking out the original, which includes cooking with a bay leaf and mustard seeds.
