Generally my response to non-chocolate candy is "what's the point?" This, however, has become my favorite Christmas candy! My daughter found it in one of those Pillsbury/Betty Crocker booklets they tempt you with at the checkout stands. Prep time does not include cooling time.
This was MY favorite Kool-aid when my kids were young. I was heartbroken when the flavor was discontinued but got the recipe from the Kool-aid (Kraft) people. My grown-up friends are always surprised that they like this!
For years, I drove past the sign for "Clinkerdagger, Bickerstaff, and Pett" thinking it was an attorney office. Someone finally set me straight and introduced me to their spinach salad. This has been my preferred version ever since. We serve it with warm, buttered French bread to make a meal.
I like making this because it's easy to throw into the crockpot in the morning and come home to a nice, moist main dish at night. The seasonings are also always on my shelf so I don't have to get anything but the chicken from the store. We call it Cousin because we had a cockatiel who liked to eat chicken and we used to tease that she was eating Cousin Alfred (ok, so our humor was a little gruesome!). The name Cousin stuck and is how we refer to this version of Crockpot Chicken.
I adapted this recipe from a Pillsbury Homestyle Meals booklet. I like it because using the thighs, it is the closest thing to pot roast I have had since I had to stop eating whole beef. It originally called for stewed tomatoes but I like that the diced is more evenly distributed in the mix. It serves two in my family and is easily increased.
I found this recipe on a Reiman bulletin board (Taste of Home). I liked that it didn't have a cream of something soup or chopped/stewed tomatoes as a base (not that I have anything against them, I just wanted something different!). It made a nice meal with Easy Garlic Crescent Rolls #71133 and Fried Apples #3057. It made it so much easier that I could brown the pork while cooking on another day so I could just throw everything in the crockpot in the morning. By experience, I have learned this is just as yummy without the green beans if you should happen to forget them!
