"I was craving this restaurant's tomato basil soup today, but have only five bucks to my name. So I decided to try and make it with the ingredients that I had on hand. The result was very good."

"I would love to try this recipe as their soup is amazing. What can you substitute the basil, garlic paste for? I can't seem to find it in the stores. Has anyone tried anything else in substitute for that."
"I made this recipe for a luncheon and it was a hit! This is really a delicious soup. Goodbye to canned tomato soup from now on! Thanks, Pink Eyed Jim, for posting this keeper recipe!"

"WOW!!! I was looking for a re-creation of a restaurant tomato basil soup as well. I took the ultimate easy way out & used 1 1/2 t. dried basil. (couldn't find any flavored paste) Family doesn't like big hunks of pepper- so used 1/2 t. regular ground pepper. Also used 3 T. Splenda to make it low carb & I can't BELIEVE how delicious this is!!! Thanks so much for creating & submitting, Jim!!!"
"Delicious soup. Chose this recipe as I am a fellow Jersey-en and also had five bucks to my name. Used all organic ingredients and it came together nicely. Will make again....thanks for sharing!"
