"I came up with this recipe when I had an abundance of fresh green beans. After canning 30 quarts, I knew I needed to find something else to do with all those beans! It's easy to prepare and one of my family's "comfort food" favorites. NOTE: not every crockpot cooks the same. My Rival crock pot is 20 years old and on the "high" setting food actually comes to a low boil. If your crock pot does not get that hot, then you will need to adjust for a longer cooking time."

"I have made these for many years and they are fabulous! I love the way they smell while they are cooking. This a great Southern dish! Thanks for sharing."
"The ham, garlic and onion flavors married well with the fresh green beans. I had not tried to use my crockpot to cook vegies before, and was pleasantly surprised at how this dish turned out. Beans were tender and not mushy. "
"The flavor was good, but it took more like 7 hours on HIGH for them to thoroughly cook."
"This is a wonderful recipe! I had never thought of making green beans in the crockpot, but I will do it this way often from now on. I cut up some canadian bacon instead of the ham hock and the beans were tender and flavorful. Thanks for the great inspiration."
