"I made this often as a preschool teacher and now make it regularly with my own children. Smells great and you can vary the colours depending on which flavour kool-aid you choose. My little girls current favourite is grape as it makes "purple playdough!" At Christmas we make it red or green and add peppermint extract and glitter! Orange at Halloween and we even found some Halloween coloured glitter.Pick up some seasonal cookie cutters from the dollar store and your all set. Lots of possibilities and FUN!"

"I made three batches in purple, green, and orange for a Halloween playdate- the consistency was fantastic and the kids had a ball!"
"This turned out great! I needed to make red playdough for my daughter's class and the Kool-Aid Tropical Punch made it the perfect red! It smells great too!"
"I love this stuff!!! We did half a batch and had plenty to keep my Hurricane busy."
"I true loved making this with my niece and nephews. They played with it for hours. And it last a long time in zip-lock bags... thanks for posting :)"
"my daughter really enjoyed this, thank you!"
"We love this recipe!!! The dough has a great consistency and lasts a long time in a tupperware container. Great for frugal fun!"
"We passed this recipe through our day home association. We made it as a fundraiser at a trade show. Each provider was to make one package for the show...we all made extra to have at home. It was a huge hit with everyone, every provider who contributed said it was the best playdough they have ever made. The kids love the smells and the colors are fabulous. Only thing was some of them cheaped out and bought no name juice crystals...do not use no name...use Kool aid like the recipe calls. The color isnt as bright and the smell isnt as strong."
"Great recipe with minor change. The first time was sticky so I added more flour. I added 3 cups of flour instead of 2 1/2, and added the cream of tarter. I had to kneed the dough for a minute or two longer and then it was perfect. Thanks!!"
"This is great playdough! I was a little nervous at first when it was so sticky, but after it cooled down, it was the perfect consistency. My 2 yr old loves it (amazingly enough, he didn't even try to eat it!), it smells great and it doesn't even stick to his hands!"
"We have been using this playdough in our house for several weeks now. I keep it in a ziploc in the fridge with some plastic cookie cutters that the boys can just pull out and play with it when they want. I found that it keeps nice and fresh in the fridge too. I did need to add a lot more flour - at first the consistency was more like a batter than a dough but once I added additional flour it was fine. My boys chose lemonade (yellow) as their first color and we could hardly see it which was kind of a disappointment - but it smelled delicious and the texture was terrific. Next time we tried grape and it was still kind of faint so we added another packet of koolaid which seemed to help the color, but that batch wasn't really workable - I don't know why. Lately my oldest son has been asking for the old playdough - I think he misses it only because of all bright colors. I still think this is a terrific idea and we'll keep experimenting - which is really half the fun anyway! Thanks for posting this recipe!"
"This recipe provided Christmas gifts for several children this year. Thanks for posting such a wonderful recipe! We made 3 batches. Each batch made about 6 cups of playdough. With my eldest daughter helping (she did the last two batches herself!) we used grape, fruit punch and black cherry koolaid brand mix. All three are different shades of purple so we added drops of the neon food coloring to get other colors..still, we could only get the black cherry to budge slightly. Next time, I will try orange, lime and grape and the blue kind which would be distinctly different colors without too much fiddling with the food coloring. I would still use the food coloring to enhance the intended color though. We left out the oil at first and it was still smooth, but after going back and adding it in, it was addicting to play with because it was so soft and squishy and it really held its form well. Having said that..we absolutely had to add somewhere around a cup more of flour if not a little more. And, we were not starting with sifted flour either. We invited a family over for a gift exchange and for the first time in my life I witnessed four adults (and 6 kids) playing with playdough for over an hour! This stuff smells good and feels good but after a while it leaves a dry feeling flour residue on the hands. It molds very very well, too. Thanks again."
"I LOVE the texture of this playdough, its soooo much better then then the brand name stuff, the smell of it doesn't hurt either! lol The only problem I have now is not being able to find packages of ONLY play dough toys, instead of getting that nasty dry dough lol Oh and I LOVE it with sparkles in it too lol"
"This has been my favorite playdough recipe for years. Make sure to keep it in an airtight container and it will last for a very long time!"
"This is a fun project to do with kids. They love making their own playdough. Do have to add more flour to get the right consistency. Suggest using regular bleached flour for this recipe as unbleached turns the dough a strange color. For variety I always split the recipe and make two colors of dough. Most colorful with tropical punch Kool- Aid or other dark colors like grape or black cherry. The kids love it! Thanks for sharing!"
"fabulous! My boys loved it! Did have to add an extra cup of flour to get it right though."
"I needed a lot more flour to get a workable dough. However, it turned out great."
"great recipe! but hard to incorporate ingredients.... needs lots of kneading to get it to set up nice."
"This was great fun for my 3 year-old DD this afternoon. I made a batch using a tub of Raspberry Crystal Lite since I didn't have any Kool Aid. I needed to add a lot more flour in order to get a workable texture, but, it was easy to fix. Thanks for a fun recipe!"
"LOVE it!!!!!! works like a dream and feels so good texture wise I want to play with it. I love that it doesn't stink like I think homemade play dough does. Way fun and should keep the kids happy (if the 2 yr old doesn't eat it all , lol...even my husband said how yummy it smelled)"
"I made this with my 3 kids this afternoon. I kinda stopped buying the playdough at the store, b/c I was sick of it getting EVERYWHERE. The kids loved helping me make this...and loved playing with it. and I love how easy it is to make, AND CLEAN UP!!! and it's so inexpensive...the kids LOVE how they can pick the color AND the scent. I just can't say enough about this recipe!!! It's AWESOME"
