"This sandwich is from a St Louis deli. It's really good for a cold night without a lot of time. Great with chips and a pickle."

"I love gerber sandwiches. However, I should note that true St Louis style ones use provel. Unfortunately, it's impossible to find outside of St Louis. However, provel is a blend of Provellone, Cheddar, and Swiss, so I generally try to blend these (although I haven't figured out just the right blend yet)."
"I was so surprised after I made this sandwich tonight! It is sooo easy, yet delicious! I cooked it at 400 instead of 350 for 15 minutes(due to my own mistake) but it turned out delicious! Next time I may try it with mozzarella cheese, but it really is delicious exactly the way it is. And the pickles and chips are a must!"
"Love this sandwich!"
"What a great and filling lunch! I used garlic bread from our supermarket bakery dept. Used ham and provolone as listed, but future toppings are endless."
"I used this recipe as inspiration for dinner tonight. I used pepper turkey and colby jack cheese. I will try as written when I have the ingredients on hand. Thanks"
"This was very good. A meal in itself. This would be good with any variation of meats and cheeses. Next time I'm going to try this with one viewers suggestion of using garlic bread from the freezer."
"Had this as a late supper last night and it was delicious. Only thing I did differently was use the packaged Italian shredded cheese. Always have it on hand as it convenient for busy midweek dinners."
"What a quick and easy dinner that leaves you full and satisfied! Yum!! Thanks for posting this keeper! :)"
"How can you go wrong with a ham and cheese sandwich? This is so good with the garlic butter....yummy. I will make this often. Thank you for posting."
"Thanks to Kat's Mom and mydesigirl for providing the thread and the recipe for this GREAT sandwich! I agree, I wouldn't change a thing. I also microwaved the butter and garlic to make them soft; put everything on a split onion roll. Deeply satisfying and filling; we had it with tomato soup."
"I've made this 5 times now! This sandwich packs so much flavor for such a simple & fast recipe! The only thing I do differently, is add fresh garlic to the butter & microwave it for 30 seconds to melt the butter & soften the garlic a bit before spreading on the loaf, otherwise I make it exactly as stated and it is awesome!"
"A delicious meal or late night snack with minimal effort! I wouldn't change a thing. This recipe is a MUST try!"
"I made this sandwich for a luncheon for my godmother and her and her guest loved it!! They said the garlic butter really went unexpectedly well with the ham and cheese and they even talked about possibly adding either a light layer of spaghetti sauce or perhaps some tomatoes to it. Thanks for posting!"
"I made this sandwich, and under the cheese and meat i added onions and cherry tomatoe slices. It really added to the flavor for me. I really enjoyed this."
"This sandwich is fantastic! We are having a garage sale today and wanted a fast lunch. This was not only fast but delish! The flavors combine together so well. I did broil for a couple of minutes at the end of the cooking time to color the cheese alittle. IMO the garlic butter just makes this sandwich! Thanks so much!!"
"This was so easy to taste SO good!! Used Monterey Jack cheese since that's what I had, but this is definitely a recipe that can be played with according to taste! My daughter and husband both loved it and asked me to make it again! Thanks for sharing!"
"Simple and fabulous! What more can you say! Thanks!"
"I agree with the other reviewers, in that this sounded too simple to be 5 stars, but we were extremely impressed.. This is a very clever and delicious sandwich. I cheated, and used thawed Coles garlic bread, it came out fantastic. Will do again and again.. Thanks!"
"These tasted very yummy and are easy to put together I did add more cheese and garlic just cause I like alot"
"My mom has made this since I could eat solid food!! It's now one of my boyfriends favorites."
