"I have made this many times over the years for large gatherings, everyone loves it and I am always asked for the recipe --- the dressing is wonderful with potatoes or cooked pasta, you may of coarse double the amounts to feed more people --- all ingredients may be adjusted to suit taste, throw in some cooked ham or bacon if desired, plan ahead this salad must chill for at least 3 or more hours before serving, the longer chilling time the better! --- if making the potato salad and prefer a creamier salad then double the dressing amount"

"We love this salad! I used the sour cream and macaroni options and doubled the recipe. The peas are a great addition to this salad as are the cheese and eggs. In fact, I loved the entire flavor! I added fried bacon. This is an absolutely fantastic recipe and thanks for the great options in this recipe. Such a winner!"
"Bland, no one really cared for it. I probably won't make it again."
"I didn't have everything to complete this recipe, but from what I did have made the best macaroni salad I've ever had in my life. Kittencal, your recipes are so reliable. Thanks!"
"I made this for my family and I and we all loved it!! I used 6 (dry) ounces of whole wheat macaroni (=3 cups cooked), 2 celery ribs, 6 ounces of reduced fat sharp cheddar; no yum yum pickles, 4 eggs 2 for topping, 1/3 cup relish, 1/4 cup light sour cream 1/2 cup low fat mayo and 3/4 cup light ranch dressing. I added 4 slices of cooked crumbled bacon. The dressing made about twice as much as needed. FABO! FABO!"
"This was okay. I left out the yum yum pickles and it still was sweeter than I liked. I only used half the cheese but it still seemed like too much. I guess I just don't like cheese in my macaroni salad! Everything seemed to be swimming in the dressing. I don't think i'll make this again."
"This is delicious! I loved the dressing so much that I made another batch of it, added milk to make it the consistency of salad dressing, and use it on tossed salad. My husband even likes it, and he thinks lettuce should only be eaten by rabbits!"
"This was a good pasta salad. Only half of the family liked it, though. I did not use the hard boiled eggs because my kids would have definitely frowned at that and I did not use the yum yum pickle. I've never heard of these, but your description tells me what they are. It was good the first day, but the next day it was very dry. Only half of it was consumed, so I don't think I will be trying this again. Thanks anyways."
"Wasn't what I was hoping for in a Pasta salad. Tasted just like potato salad with pasta instead of potato -- Yuck."
"Absolutely the best macaroni salad I have ever had! I didnt have sweet relish so I used chopped up dill pickles... and it turned out great! I also added green peppers and green onions just because I love the extra veggies! :)"
"I have made both the macaroni and the potato versions and this is what i am told i will make for every barbecue/potluck gathering -- sometimes i use different kinds of potatoes, just to mix things up a little bit -- and i have also used different kinds of pasta -- even made a gluten free pasta batch once -- thanks for sharing"
"My family did not care for this salad. They said the cheese & the peas did not belong in there. We all agreed that the salad would be so much better w/ macaroni instead of the potatoes. I personally liked the peas & the cheese. Will try it again w/ pasta & add bacon or ham! We have always loved all of your recipies."
"This is so good. But, I have come to know that any recipe from this chef is excellent! Hats off to Kittencal for sharing such good recipes with us. Keep them coming!! I make my own macaroni salad with Uncle Dan'sranch dressing packets and I think ranch dressing adds so much to a recipe that normally calls for mayonnaise!"
"I followed this recipe to the letter, using small pasta shells. Although I found this dish absolutely delicious, the dressing for 3 cups of cooked pasta was way too much. could be cut in half. It's a keeper for sure, though."
"Lovely spin on a potato salad...I used grated carrot in place of celery and love tang of the dressing."
"I made macaroni salad for my daughter's wedding reception and everyone loved it! It was so easy to prepare. I went to 1/2 ranch and 1 cup mayo, personal preference and I used my mama's homemade pickles in place of the yum yum's. AWESOME! Kitten you never fail me! Oh, and Kitten I didn't low carb it either...lol. Thanks so much!!"
"Everyone loved this macaroni salad! I can't wait to make potato salad with this recipe. Made exactly as stated and it turned out so good. Thanks for posting!"
"Another HIT from Kittencal. I know I can always count on you to put up a 5 star recipe! I used Branston Pickle (British) for about 1/2 of the pickle, and I added celery seed - about 1 tsp - and left out the celery cuz nobody in the fam. likes it. I also tossed in a bit of paprika! Thanks for a smashing recipe!!"
"Very good salad. I was looking for a good noodle salad that wasn't like every other one that is out there and this one fit the bill. I did do about half again more sauce because it seemed a little dry without. Overall very good!"
"Another home run from Kittencal! My kids loved this recipe made as pasta salad. I used gemelli pasta and pre-packaged shredded cheddar cheese. I used light mayo and light sour cream. Next time I'll use light ranch dressing too, or maybe sub in some non-fat yogurt. My only question is what in the world is yum-yum pickle? I've never heard of it."
"Awesome! I didnt do the peas since DH and my daughter dont care for them. I made the recipe with 1lb wacky Mac. Its just so good. DH does not care for Mayo, so I used the Salad dressing kind, Im not going to tell him its in there. lol"
