"A favorite side dish veggie I often make for my family. Don't walk away from the pan - broccoli cooks very quickly and you need to check it soon to prevent it overcooking. Sometimes it will take a little longer to cook, other times it will take a little less. I have a glass lid on my saucepan, so I can see when it is ready - it gets very bright green when it is ready, then very quickly starts to turn olive green if it cooks a little too long. I like mine tender, but still a little crispy - the longer you cook it, the softer it gets, but you also lose that lovely color. It is up to you."

"I have been looking for a great broccoli recipe, and I think I have found it. Only change I made was to add 2-3 cloves of garlic, and do leave out the lemon juice (personal preferance). Thanks so much for sharing! I will have to make this again soon."
"Heather, this was great. I added extra garlic and plenty of extra pepper. It is easy enough to make all the time but good enough to serve to guests. It will definatly make regular appearances on my dinner table!"
"Ahhh, I LOOOVE broccoli!! This is a really tasty way to prepare it. I also added a little more garlic. I decreased the salt to just a sprinkling and added about 1/2 tsp. or so of soy sauce. YUMMY!!! This would also be good with a broccoli/cauliflower mix. Thanks! ~Manda"
"What a wonderful way to prepare broccoli. I did increase the amount of garlic and added some gresh ginger which I think made a big difference. Thanks for something different!!!"
"Awesome! I really love broccoli and am usually extremely content to steam my broccoli with a little lemon juice and garlic salt. But this, was extra special, relatively healthy, and made a nice side dish for a special occasion holiday dinner with the hubby. (I made it with the Honey Mustard Basil Salmon http://www.food.com/recipe/honey-mustard-basil-salmon-95294) and was able to use the extra leftover lemon juice I squeezed this morning.
I always appreciate a recipe I can make from what I already have stocked in my pantry. I used a 1 lb. bag of frozen broccoli and the 5-10 minute steaming time was perfect to get the right shade of green.
It's a wonderful thing when the side dish outshines the entree, and I have to say this did. A wow with every bite."
"Added more garlic and it was great!"
"This was a good recipe. one of my girls loved it and the other did not. I think next time I may use less lemon and more garlic. I may also saute the sauce in the last minute of the broccoli cooking.
Will use again. Thx!"
"We eat broccoli almost every night with dinner, so I'm always interested in different ways to serve it up. This is a great recipe. I loved the garlic flavor and the olive oil/lemon juice was a great combination. Thank you!"
"I used all the ingredients listed, but added more garlic. Used the lesser cooking time to keep my broccoli bright green. I enjoyed this side dish very much, but think I'll decrease the lemon next time. Nice way to serve broccoli! Made for Best of 2010 Tag game! Congrats for being included in the best!"
"Good side dish. I added a little more garlic and really enjoyed the lemony garlic flavor of this simple dish. Thanks HeatherFeather for sharing. Made for Healthy Choices Tag."
"Very simple and good recipe. I love veggies so I'm always looking for a way to serve them without masking much of the natural flavor. This was great- just a hint of lemon and garlic. I love steaming green vegetables too because the color is so beautiful."
"This was good. The lemon in it was very refreshing. I did melt 2 Tablespoons of butter instead of using olive oil, and I was probably a little heavy-handed on the garlic, but it was a nice change from regular broccoli. I served this with Recipe #197810. Thanks for posting."
"Not a "wow" recipe for us, but it was okay...I felt like it needed something else - maybe some extra spices to zing it up! I will try it again sometime with more spices! Thanks for the recipe"
"Not bad! Very easy to make which is great because I'm always looking for easy veggie side dishes. Thanks for sharing this one!"
"Just a tad too lemony for us but okay. Next time I will reduce the amount of lemon."
"MMMmmmmmm! This is delicious! I put 2 tsp. minced garlic in the mix instead of 1/2 tsp. Garlic and lemon on broccoli is awesome! Thanks for this recipe!"
"This was easy and delicious! I made it twice now. The first time I made it exactly as written, and the second time I subbed lime juice for the lemon juice, and frankly, I couldn't tell the difference. I steamed the broccoli in the microwave for 3 minutes.....it was fork-tender and still bright green. Perfectly cooked. Thanks for posting this healthy recipe, HeatherFeather."
"What's not to love about this great brocooli side dish? We liked this so much that the 2 of us ate a whole pound by ourselves... I added a little kosher salt to the water to help season the broccoli a little... I only steamed mine for 4 minutes... we like ours on the crunchy side! After draining, I added a pat of butter just for a little bit of richness... not like it needed it, but it was very nice. Complemented Recipe #12249 very well, along with some mashed red potatoes. Thanks for sharing!!!"
"This was good; personally a little too lemony, but good and VERY easy. Thanks for posting a good side dish!"
"quick, easy, & tasty. couldn't ask for more. didn't measure anything, just eyeballed it (i have no doubt i went heavy on the garlic :)) and it tasted great! will definitely make regularly. thanks!"
