"This is from the Rinn UMC cookbook from a dear lady my family knew well. She was a good scandinavian who loved to cook and feed people. I love this recipe and have a few jars in my pantry all the time. Great for last minute desserts!"
Serving Size: 1 (6950 g)

"This tastes wonderful. One BIG caution, the processing time may be wrong. This is a cold packed canning recipe. According to my Blue Book regular cold packed apples (put in jar cold with hot syrup poured over and then put into boiling water bath) are processed 30 minutes...10 minutes more than this recipe calls for. I made that one change and subbed 1 cup packed brown sugar for the white for flavor and it worked great. Packing is slow as it takes some time for the thick syrup to seep into the packed jars. I will make it again."
"Great recipe, I added cranberries for color and some times throw in a star of anise"
"I love apple anything and the picture of these canned sold me! So here I am with 7 qts. of delicious filling to use in pies, as a side to pork, chicken etc, and to use just about any way I please. The flavor is awesome and I can't wait to make my first pie!"
"This is getting 5 stars because I got FANTASTIC compliments and all I did was follow the recipe!! I do have a question.... How long will it keep in the bottles if unopened? Thanks!!"
"Very easy, if a little messy without a funnel. I got exactly 7 quarts worth of apples and syrup, which was nice. Looking forward to making a pie with them now!"
"Great recipe and easy to do. Makes for an easy desert to make when you have company coming."
"This was SOOO Easy and good! This was my first attempt at canning on my own and I am so excited. I should have packed the jars down more with the apples, but otherwise everthing went well, and the taste was wonderful. We couldn't wait to make a pie with this, so we just warmed some up in a dish and added some Cool Whip and had ourselves a wonderful dessert. Thank you for sharing and making me excited to start canning! (P.S. Sorry about the picture, I will work on submitting another that does this recipe justice.)"
"This was a great and simple recipe. Thanks !!!"
"i made this and it turned out great! i added just a pinch of 'chi spice' and it is so good!!! i took 3 jars to the SD Peace and Justice conference on local food 2 weeks ago and they auctioned for $15 a jar!"
"second year to use this recipe. Excellent, Did a few changes this year . Some jars I added cranberries and a star of anise. thanks for the recipe"
"Yum. I did add a bit more spice as one of the reviewers suggested. Definitely a repeater."
"Just a great recipe, we added a fewcranberries and it made the jars look great"
"We all love this, but i think it needs a little more spice."
"I "tagged" this recipe in Zaar Tag. Apple Pie without the crust. I loved these. It is easy for me to take to work for a nack. That is, if every one will leave them alone long enough. Just follow the recipe and you will have a hit. Thank for posting."
"Very good. I added 1 cup of raisins and 1/2 cup brown suger. Wil make excellant Christmas gifts."
