"Super easy cake...made with mixes and already prepared items...but with a homemade taste!"
Serving Size: 1 (128 g)
Servings Per Recipe: 12
"Delicious! I hosted a party for a women's league and used a German theme. I chose this recipe because it was EASY and used things I had on hand. My daughter was very disappointed to find none left when she got home, so I made another the next day. I sprinkled the top with cocoa powder. It was very pretty. Thanks for a wonderful recipe."
"This was sooo easy to make and very tasty. The only thing I did not like was the thickness of the cake. Next time, I will probably make two layers out of it, double the cherry filling and spread it between the layers and also on the top. Thanks for sharing :-)"
"This was absolutely delicious! And extrememly easy and quick to put together. The only thing I wasn't sure about was when to put the topping on. It says to put the cherry filling on while warm but I wasn't sure about the pudding. I waited until the cake had cooled to put the pudding on and it turned out great! I took it to my inlaws for a family dinner. Everybody raved over it. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law were groaning because they were so full while heading for seconds of the cake. My husband raved all the way home. Great recipe Karen. Thank you! "
"Great except topping was runny. Next time I will put pudding mix in the cool whip without milk."
"I have made this as written and also played around with it a few times - making it a poke cake with a box of chocolate pudding once, and keeping the vanilla pudding and Cool Whip as separate layers the other time. Delicious all three ways, and everyone I give the recipe to is surprised at how easy it is. Great, great recipe!"
"I made this for my man for his birthday last year and it was a huge hit. I had forgotten all about it when I decided this will be the perfect thing to bring to our church picnic. I will also be making one for the Mr. as he does not share well ;)
This is one super great recipe!!!"
"Very good item. I really love it. Thanks."
"We had a guest bring this for a bridal shower several months ago, and my husband loved it, so of course I had to get the recipe from the lady that brought it. I have since made it, too. This is SO easy and quick to make, serves a bunch of people, and tastes really good. It's a great thing to make if you are a new baker, too, because it looks like you spent a lot of time making it. This is a great recipe."
"Very good recipe- Great to take to any gathering as it looks great & tastes even better! Very moist!"
"This is a simple, but tasty recipe. Thanks."
"Awesome recipe. I made it for my hubby's birthday. He loved it, we all did. It was as close as it could be to his childhood memory of black forest cake. I did make a couple changes...I made it a two layer cake, and let it soak in a little rum over night. We are making this recipe our new tradition!"
"Wow, this is really a favorite recipe of mine. I use double the cherry filling, i dont use the almond extract. ALso, i use mini chocolate chips as a topping, it gives this recipe texture and a little extra flavor."
"I make this cake every year for my fiance's birthday. I'm always looking for ways to cut calories so I use fat free/sugar free pudding mix and sugar free cool whip and no sugar added cherry pie filling. I've been able to cut the calories and sugar in half! I love this recipe!!!"
"Tasty and easy to make. I used all Splenda products so now I have a new dessert for my diabetic friends. The only issue that I had was the 5 1/8 oz box of vanilla pudding. I couldn't find one that size so I used a small box of pudding."
"I made this recipe for my son's 8th birthday. It was really good, and easy to make too. If I make it again, I will use less milk to make the pudding topping because it was not quite firm enough at serving time even though I chilled it for over two hours. I shaved dark chocolate over the top so it was very pretty. Excellent recipe."
"DH requested a black forest torte for Easter but I wanted an easy version and this fit the bill. Easy and very delicious! My guests all enjoyed it and DH polished off the little that was left. The only changes I made were to omit the almond extract and to dust the top with cocoa powder instead of using the maraschinos. Excellent recipe and thank you!"
"You're right, this was the easiest! I made exactly as you have written (except I didn't have time to decorate it...). Thanks for posting!"
"My kids loved this! Super easy. The only thing I didn't use was the maraschino cherries on the top. Thanks Karen!"
"Delish! Very simple and tasty. Thanks Karen. Made for the cake-a-thon for Chef I Am."
"Easy and yummy!"
