"a rich and creamy garlic shrimp dish, don't try this unless you love shrimp AND garlic..."
Serving Size: 1 (280 g)
Servings Per Recipe: 4
"My family just loved this! It was quick, it was easy, it was delicious. I omitted the green onions (DS hates 'em) but the dish would have looked so much prettier had they been included; I also used 2 cups whole milk and 1 cup half-and-half for the "3 cups milk". Unlike other reviewers, my sauce thickened up very quickly; in fact, I had to turn the heat off under it as it was ready before my pasta was cooked! I used a very strong extra-old white cheddar that I bought at Sweetwater Valley Farm in Tennessee (we stopped there while driving down to Florida; it's just off I-75) and surprisingly, I couldn't taste it in the sauce at all. Next time I'll add more cheese. I cooked up 350 grams of wagon wheel pasta (fusilli or farfalle would have been better, but I'm all out) and then tossed it in with the sauce, adding 2 tbsp of parmesan cheese too, along with a small bit of salt. The 3 of us all had seconds and I have enough left over for lunch for me, so I could have easily fed 4, if not 5, people with this amount. If I had thought to add in some broccoli spears, I would have had a complete meal, too. Our meal was so tasty and judging by my family's reaction, this one'll be made again!"
"WOW - this was delicious. Easy to put together but like "Karen in TBay" I found that it took quite a while to thicken. Husband couldn't resist having "seconds" and looks forward to my making it again. Thanks, Pixie - just a great dish!!"
"Easy and delicious. Hubby went back for seconds, then ate even more for a late night snack. Guess he couldn't get enough! I had to omit the flour because he is on the Atkin's diet, so I subbed half and half for the milk and only used enough to make the sauce nice and creamy. "
"I had something very similar to this in a five star restaurant, and I've tried so many garlic prawn recipes trying to get the same result. This is by far the best recipe I've found! Thanks."
"Delish! For some reason it took quite a while to thicken but well worth the wait."
"I loved this recipe! It was easy to make and tasted delicious - everyone loved it!"
"Made this tonight for a meeting at the local sportsman's club. Went over very well. Made as is, and turned out great. Thank you. for posting it."
"I made this exactly according to directions except that I used skim milk instead of whole. Everyone loved it, and I will make it again. It didn't come out quite as thick with the skim milk, but it was still good - especially for the fat savings. I used Vermont sharp cheddar for the cheese. My friend said it would probably be really good with spinach added in."
"This was a really easy recipe and soooo yummy! It was ready before the jasmine rice I served it over was ready! My husband works nights, so any recipes that I can put together quickly when I get home and we can eat before he has to leave are great! This is a keeper for sure! Thanks for sharing!"
"Very good and easy recipe. I made it with penne and served roasted baby spring asparagus. I didn't have spring onions so I subbed finely chopped sweet onion which I sauted with the garlic. For the cheese, I used a small amount of asiago and topped up with german butter cheese. I also had no problem getting the sauce to thicken, in fact I will probably use a bit less flour next time. This is company worthy!"
"Wow, this is so simple and so good. I halved the recipe and eventhough my BF and I ate all of it, it would have easily fed three people, but it was so yummy we ate far too much. I had a little accident with the crushed chili flakes and probably used 1/2 tsp despite halving the recipe, but it added a wonderful kick. We had it with penne pasta and some steamed broccoli as a side. I might try and add some mushrooms next time because I think they would go well with the rest of the ingredients, but it doesn't really need anything extra it's pretty perfect as it is. The fact that it is so quick to make makes it a perfect mid week dinner. Thanks for sharing, i'll be making this often. :D"
"Fabulous! My family fell all over each other in the rush for seconds. I served it over linguine with a simple caesar salad and garlic bread. I'm looking forward to making it again! Thanks, *Pixie*!"
"This was quick to make and tasted great! I made a couple of changes, going with what I had on hand. I chopped a yellow onion and sauteed with the garlic, and I used Sargento pre-shredded "Italiano" 6 cheese blend. Oh, and I added a sprinkle of dill."
"Oh Pixie, I made this tonight and have to say it was awesome! So easy and quick. I also used half and half, served it over linguine and all my husband could say was "Yummmmyyyyy" Thanks for the wonderful recipe. Hugs, Susie"
