"Cookies of this type are usually rolled in beaten egg white, which I find a fussy step. That is why I like this recipe so much; it's tasty AND easy. I found it back in the 1980s in a Norene Gilletz book. They look wonderful on a cookie tray."

"These were so easy to make, i am making dozens to give away this Christmas. I made one mistake and tried a batch with wholemeal flour..don't, they just didn't taste right. My only change would be to add a little more icing sugar as another person suggested. However excellent mini cookies."
"I've never done what amounts to being a thumbprint style cookie before, but this recipe made it a very good experience! Oh and this was also the first time that I ever mixed an entire recipe in my little food processor, a fascinating experience! UPDATE; I've made this a few more times since and I highly recommend increasing the amount of confectioner's (icing) sugar as the cookie is much better sweeter! "Got to love any dough recipe that you can throw together entirely in the food processor! I read the other reviews and noted to shorten the baking time, but in the end, I needed 15 minutes, so it was bang on for me. I used mostly whole wheat flour (used white for the first 1/4 cup). I ended up doubling the recipe and used 3 eggs all together...if I had added 4 it would have been too runny. The dough was easy to roll into balls and baked nicely. Obviously, a different texture because of the ww flour. For my third batch into the oven I flattened them out a little more, pressed lightly into some sugar, and then made the jam indents. That batch turned out the best by far, so I'll do it that way next time. Thanks, this was a breeze and they look great!"
"Thank you for this recipe! It seems to be the same one I learned in Home Ec class 35 years ago. I lost it about 15 years ago and have been looking ever since! This has the distinctive (and easy) features of not using the egg white wash and putting the jam in before baking. Thanks!"

"Sorry, Lennie -- I started out as others had mentioned, and used 2 eggs --NOT the FIX ! Batter was very wet, and all I could do was drop by teaspoonsful. Couldn't even leave a "dent". I topped with a small tad of canned SOLO pastry jam, and baked for 12 minutes. They are very light and airy, possibly due to extra egg, but not much flavor. They do look pretty good, but don't think I will try again. Did get 48 cookies. Thanks for posting a different cookie recipe."

I'm giving it four stars because I think the cooking time is too long. I guess it depends on the oven...but they were a little dry. "These are nice cookies. I used homemade strawberry and rhubarb jam, which I put in a plastic bag with a cut off corner, which made it really easy to fill the dough balls. I might taking them out after about 13 minutes next time because they did get a little dry. Thanks for sharing."
"These are so yummy!!! I used to make a different kind of jam filled cookie which is being replaced by this one immediately. They are so simple to make, my kids loved making the holes in the middle with the wooden spoon. It does take a little time to roll and fill but is well worth the time. I used strawberry jam and they turned out wonderful! My mom came by for lunch and when I showed these to her she immediately wanted to try them and asked for the recipe once she tasted them. "Excellent cookies that got wonderful reviews from friends. For an even better presentation, try making these with cookie cutter shapes, then fill with jam. The hearts came out best for me, but ivy and flowers shapes are very pretty as well. But be prepared for the time commitment if you plan on doing more complex shapes..."
