"This is a great cold weather soup, it is comforting and tasty and best of all you can make it in an afternoon without a lot of fuss. It can simmer on low on the stove top until you are ready to serve. It is a wonderful meal served with fresh crusty bread."

"Made for CrazE Contest 2011. LOVED IT!!!! I made the whole batch even though it was just me as it is hunting season. Leftovvers the next day were even better than the first. Maybe because I knew how good this was. I did add in the poblano even though I do not like heat, however instead of seeding and dicing, I seeded and put 2 halves in so I could remove them before eating. What great flavors! I did use homemade veggie and beef broth from my freezer. All else was the same. Wonderful soup and I sure will use this again through our cold snowy winters! Great job Chef. Good Luck!"
"Great flavoursome soup, nice and healthy too ! I used 2 trimmed pork steaks instead of sirloin and diced all my vegies up pretty small. I did leave out the tomatoes as I had none in the house but the soup worked out well and we all enjoyed it greatly. The recipe makes a big batch so we also have lunch for tomorrow now which is a great help."
"I found this a flavorful fall meal. The consistency was more stew like which I loved. The flavor was well rounded & other than using a fresh red pepper I didn't change a thing. Great job!"
"Delicious! This was an easy and great tasting recipe to put together for company...comfort food. Everyone thought the fresh basil and thyme were a great addition and gave it 5 stars. Good luck in the contest!"
"The name grabbed my attention. A steak and potato soup sounded like pure comfort food and it was. This was easy to put together and thoroughly enjoyed. The addition of the fresh basil gave it a fresh taste. Good luck in the contest."
"With a consistency more like a stew than soup, this recipe was pure comfort food. My mom is in town for a family funeral, and we enjoyed testing a few contest recipes together. The fresh thyme and basil were a great addition, and it gave us a chance to try out the new herb chopper my mom brought down for me. :) Chock full of veggies and meat, this hearty stew was a nice ending to a cold winter day. Made and enjoyed for the Fall 2011 Category Craze-E Contest."
"THOUGHT I was making this for A?NZ swap #72 !! OLD brain ! It was STILL wonderful, the only sub I made was for 1/2 28oz. can of crushed tomatoes for the diced tomatoes ! Had a lovely afternoon putting it all together !!
*Made for Australia/NZ Swap #60* VERY yummy and perfect for a day which started at 12 degrees. Only left out the chile, and had no fresh basil, so used dry. Only had room in the pot for 1 potato, and have PLENTY of soup for another meal -- so will add additional 'tater and a little more broth. Got a late start this time, but will will be ready earlier next time -- likely next week ! Thanks for sharing, BK !"
