"I had bought a cheap little cookie press and couldn't wait to try it out. I definitely need practice, but these are a keeper! I cooked mine a minute or two longer, because I prefer them crunchy. To me they tasted like the crunchy edge of a brownie, delicious!"
"Certainly the right consistency for a cookie press.

As for flavor, these were like chocolate sawdust.

Gonna continue looking for another recipe--or tweak this one to include cocoa crispies and chocolate milk..."
"My DH asked me to make a chocolate cookie like a Maurice Lendell cookie from his childhood. He said I nailed it with this recipe. I added a dollop of chocolate frosting using the recipe #33778 recipe."
"5 stars for ease of making and taste. I don't know how I managed to end up with a mixture resembling soft smooth playdoh but it rolled easily into balls (no cookie press) and baked up in 5 mins, just like the recipe says. I was amazed. I was actually seeking a crisp cookie - didn't read thru all the reviews - but these are lovely. I will be icing them."
"Good taste but I had trouble with the texture. I aslo had to add another egg."
"I don't know if its because it was the first time I made them, but these cookies turned out really crumbly, the texture was more like sand. I think that next time I'll add another egg."
"Just made these to add to our Christmas cookie tray and they are delicious! I drizzled them with melted white chocolate and everyone loves them."
"These cookies were great! I lost my cookie press in the last move so had to improvise - I added an extra tbsp of flour then rolled the cookie dough out & used a small round cutter. They came out perfect at 8 mins. DS decided how he wanted them decorating & then 'supervised' as I decorated them! As soon as I get another press I will have to make these again...if not sooner! Thanks for the recipe!"
"I made these quickly and don't have a cookie press...just made balls and flattened them out...they are pretty good."
"Great cookies! I left mine unglazed and they were thicker than usual spritzes (need to work on my cookie pressing skills), and they were delicious without being overly sweet. Definitely enjoyed it and will make them again!"
"These are the best spritz cookies I've ever eaten! I've never been a huge spritz fan, but I'd inherited a cookie press from my grandma and I wanted to put it to use. I was really surprised at how delicious these cookies were...they taste like little brownies. Also, they worked really well in the cookie press. They were really fun to make! Thanks so much for posting this; I'm sure I'll be making them next holiday, too."
"really enjoyed these cookies . I added them to my cookie tray. I dipped them in white chocolate, but I think next year I'll leave them plain. I like them much better that way. they melt in your mouth."
"I liked the cocoa flavor of these cookies (not overly sweet). If you want to add some sweetness just dip them in glaze. Marg's photo inspired me to do that! Thanks Tonkcats, for a nice addition to my cookie platter. Roxygirl"
"Absolutely delicious! The perfect compliment to butter spritz cookies!"
"These are very good. I followed the recipe, but I did dip the tops of my cookies in chocolate. I did half in white chocolate and the other half in milk chocolate. My grand daughter couldn't wait so she had hers plain and loved every bite. Thanks for a simple and delicious addition to my holiday cookie tray."
"these were outstanding cookies and baked up beautifully. Satisfies my chocolate craving and makes plenty of cookies. Will definitely make these again."
"I've made these cookies twice now. They're fabulous and disappear in no time."
"am basing my rating on how well my toddler liked these (since have gestational diabetes and couldn't taste them myself). my cookie press broke when i was halfway through so i rolled out the remaining dough and cut out shapes with it. they were a big hit. thanks Tonkcats :)"
"I made these for Valentine's Day and everyone loved them! They were very soft."
"Wow! I finally got round to dusting off my cookie press yesterday to make a treat for colleagues who are actually in the office this week. I've had lots of people stopping by my desk to munch and chat and all have loved the cookies. They are richly chocolate and very aromatic. (I'm trying hard not to polish off the lot myself.) They were also a snap to make. The only change I made was to put halved glace cherries on top of some of the cookies before baking (works with the round shapes, not so much with the tree shapes)."
