"From www.TopSecretRecipes.com This is a copycat (from Top Secret recipes) recipe of Applebees Creamy Tomato Basil soup. My whole family loved it when I made it, even my non tomato soup loving son. I would suggest NOT trying to sub dried Basil in this recipe as it depends on the flavor of the real basil for it's "spark". I used the kind you can get in a tube in the produce section. This is extraordinarily easy to make and makes enough for a full family dinner. We served it along side Paninis and it was a great meal! :-)"

"Made this tonight, and it is FANTASTIC; tastes EXACTLY like Applebee's Tomato Basil soup. Only changes I made: 5tsp dried basil for the fresh, and 2/3tsp dried parsley for the fresh as well. I also cut the sugar in half, just to make certain that the soup didn't become over-sweetened. About 1/6c of sugar worked quite well, and the soup didn't taste like candy. Absolutely LOVED it.
Sidenote: I used Food Lion brand crushed tomatoes, and there was no metallic aftertaste."
