"When I first read the words "Cheeseburger Soup" on the menu of our local deli - my thought was YUCK! This was the special every Friday! Well one Friday I decided to broaden my taste buds and give it a try! It was sooooo good! Being the cook that I am, I just knew I could make this on my own. So here is my version and If I do say so myself - "it's better than the deli's" but shhhh....don't tell them!!!!!"
Serving Size: 1 (229 g)
Servings Per Recipe: 10
"This was great. My 5 year old even ate 2 bowls. I did add a can of Rotel and replaced some of the cheddar with Monterrey Jack cheese with Jalepenos. We like spicy food. It was so good my DH volunteered to bring some to work today for lunch. AMAZING!!"
"An all around good family meal. Fixed a green salad to have along with for a soup and salad duo. A crusty bread would be great with it, but there were enough carbs in the soup alone for me. Hearty, warm, filling. Great for when the weather gets cold and you're not in the mood for chili. I made it as described other than adding a few seasonings. Garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and a little bit of chili powder. Yum! We'll be making this one again."
"this was very good soup!! I can not wait to make it again tomorrow night for dinner. YUM YUM YUM!! Thanks for sharing an awesome recipe"
"Sooo good! My changes were to use Velveeta and omit the celery. My husband and I loved it!! My kids are crazy and wouldn't eat it-- so let them starve. However, one reviewer mentioned using noodles in place of the potatoes and celery-- maybe that would sway their tastbuds? Thanks for a great recipe."
"My family isn't big on soup (they're weird lol), but I had to try this recipe. I just cut back on the liquid and served it as a casserole. It turned out to be a very tasty stick-to-your-ribs meal. "
"I tried this recipe and my whole family loved it"
"OMG I feel so fat writing this. We are not super health conscience but this soup was one of those "we can make this only once a year" recipes. I used about a cup of beer as liquid with the chicken broth. My fiancé said it could have been a little thinner but he kept saying it was so good as he ate it. He ate over 2 good sized bowls and said he was out of control. I did add some steak seasoning to the meat, a little worcestshire, a little smoke seasoning, some green chilis, salt, pepper, and seasoning salt, and cayenne. I added small amounts but it gave it a little more flavor and think it could have stood to have some more flavor otherwise it would have been pretty bland for our tastes. I would probably make it a little spicier as it was still a little bland and I think I would use 1/2 lb of meat and more veggies. Just to make myself feel like I wasn't trying to kill myself with a bowl of soup. I can say however that I have some of the worst heartburn I've had in awhile so if you are prone to getting heart burn, make sure you have your pills handy! We both really liked this soup. Thanks. :)"
"Excellent soup - can't wait to make it again! Was a little hesitant about putting the carrots in - just didn't seem to fit, but they weren't an issue. This easily convert to gluten free by using gluten free flour in place of the flour. Thanks for posting this."
"This was kinda different. It tasted good! I put it in the crockpot. Added the milk mixture half hour before serving. I put the cheese on top instead of mixing it in. No parsely but I added 5 crushed garlic gloves. Tomorrow it will probably be better once everything blends together more. Also added a little garlic salt, pepper, and some whoesterie sauce."
"This soup is AMAZING! I made a couple of adjustments but pretty much stuck to the recipe. I made is for four, added regular and sharp cheddar and 2oz of Velveta. I also added a little beer, onion powder, seasoning salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Came out wonderful! Will be keeping this in my repertoire. OH! I also used frozen hash browns instead of regular potatoes."
"We liked this a lot. I made this for dinner on our first cold spell and it was gone at the end of our meal. I'm so glad I found your recipe, its a little different than anything we have and the whole family loved it. Thank you"
"this soup is so good, made two separate pans, one exactly as the recipe, and the other with quorn mince and vegetable stock for my vegetarian husband, celery was omitted from both as we don't like it, both of the soups went down a treat and i can see this being one of my favorite soups for the coming cold months, very yummy!!!"
"This was great! Even my picky 8 year old liked it. I will make again."
"Sooo good!!!! I simplified a little by browning my meat with all the veggies and a tiny bit of olive oil. Then I added my flour and stirred around, poured in 3 cups water with 3 tsp beef bullion and butter. I let it simmer until veggies were tender, added a can of canned condensed milk and 2 cups cheddar. Stirred to melt and turned off heat. That way I only dirtied up one pot. I will make again and again! Thanks for the recipe!!!"
"My family loved this. I had to use ground turkey this time but I am keeping this recipe for sure. Thanks for sharing it."
"Very good will make again. used smokey chedder next time i might spice it up all tho it doesn't need it just for something different."
"After watching DDD, I was in search of a cheeseburger soup recipe. This one is not it. It is missing something. Kinda tastes like hospital food. I will continue my search."
"Pretty good. A lot like the the Goulash recipe from "Better Homes & Gardens Ground Meat Cook Book" . Only in place if the sour cream you used a cheese white sauce and omitted the hot sauce. 6 out of 9 liked it, the youngest liked the "broth"."
"Very good soup. Very rich, so won't make but a few times a winter. Our neighbor came over as I was done making it. Needless to say, my husband and neighbor ate all but my one bowl (mine), plus whole loaf of toasty garlic bread. I did add a few cloves of garlic. Thanks for great recipe Kimmie."
"On this really cold snowy day, I made this soup. It was great. Everyone loved it. I made a slight change based upon the other reviews by adding a little "spice" to it. I put in a dash of garlic powder and a splash of Worcestershire sauce. This is definitely a keeper!"
