"This is the salad dressing I grew up with that my mom created. As a child, I didn't realize there were any alternatives. To this day, my mom's salad dressing is still a favorite. Very simple to prepare. If you make it a little ahead of time, it will allow the flavors to blend. I hope you enjoy it!"

"Delicious and simple to prepare. Everyone enjoyed this easy and tasty recipe. The measurements were very accurate - I measured everything out precisely and made no changes. Thanks."
"This dressing is delicious. Very easy to make, and even better the next day after the flavors have a chance to blend. I did add a little bit more parmesan cheese, and salt, and it was perfect. Forget bottled dressings. This one is it for us. Thanks"
"All I did was add extra parmesan cheese and enjoyed this dressing over a green salad. "
"I agree..this is great! Definately a keeper! "
"I was looking for a really fresh salad dressing and this is it. It is absolutely wonderful. I use olive oil and add 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning. My whole family loves it. No more bottled dressing for us. Thanks for sharing this recipe Bev."
"Great dressing, Bev! It's better than any storebought dressing, according to DH who loves Italian, and I can't get over how easy it is to throw together! I used olive oil, extra pepper and extra garlic. Also used a shredded soy parmesan cheese. Delicious! Thanks for sharing."
"Bev, this is delicious! I made a double recipe and wouldn't change a thing. I made a huge amount of pasta salad (my husband's dad's recipe). I used 2 bottles of Italian dressing and discovered I was a bottle short and we were snowed in (370 foot+ driveway + 18 inches of snow). Daughter ate a huge container of it (in over a week plus), and commmented that it was especially good. When we got shoveled out I sent a good amount to his brother's family because I had made too much and didn't want it to go to waste. His SIL called and told us if we had anymore that we weren't going to eat to send it out, which we did, which the kids opened their frig and saw it and it slowly vanished before our eyes...lol. This is a great-tasting Italian dressing, very inexpensive & easy to make, keeps well, and is even better than the bottled dressing. Thanks for sharing. "
"OMG, this Italian is great! Oh so easy to put together and the taste is just right! Used it on Princessbuttercup's "Picnic Green Bean Salad" (#29997), and boy, it really dolled it up! Thanks for sharing a nifty recipe, Bev. Laudee C."
"Perfect salad dressing. Everyone loves this!"
"Lovely and very simple dressing to make. Suggest leaving in fridge for a couple days to let flavors blend as this was incredibly better after that. Enjoyed the day made but enjoyed and took it to a different level after a couple days. Thanks for posting!!!"
"Fabulous! I substituted olive oil, red wine vinegar and splenda and cut down on the garlic and added more parmesan. Tremendously better than store bought!"
"This dressing is fabulous!! Thank you! This is the only dressing that everyone in my family loves! There are 8 of us and everyone liked a different kind of dressing so I had many many bottles in the fridge. I now have more space in my fridge. I didn't change a thing. I made the salad dressing exactly as the recipe states, which is rare for me...lol."
"Doubled the sugar. So-so right after making it, but TOTALLY surprised me after 3 days in the fridge. This will be a staple in my house!"
"I originally reviewed this way back when. Over the years this has become my favorite salad dressing. I have made it with balsamic vinegar, red wine vinegar, white wine vinegar and apple cider vinegar; basically whatever falls out of the cupboard at me. I do always use light olive oil. It is simply delicious and much more economical than buying bottled dressing. Bev, thank you so much for sharing your treasured family recipe!"
"I substituted olive oil and balsamic vinegar and added a bit more parmesan cheese. Wow, everybody loved it. We have been using this daily for the last 3 weeks. I have a very picky family and we don't give many 5-star ratings."
"The best! When I shared with my Mom that after YEARS of buying every Italian dressing on the shelves with no success of finding the one from when I was a kid that this recipe was SPOT-ON. She laughed. My son, the 16yo who has lived on ranch his entire life and used to dunk everything in it has now switched to this. I am pretty sure he must be drinking it when nobody is around. It's delicious, easy and versatile. I make it as is most of the time but I sometimes throw in a handful of whatever dried herbs are mocking me. It's great with basil. Good with tarragon. Nice with some straight parsley. You get the idea. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! By the way. Thanks for posting this."
"Delicious! I let it sit the better part of the afternoon. I think I'll add just a touch more sugar and Parmesan to it. Looking forward to revisiting it in a day or two. :)"
"This dressing is simple AND simply delicious! I used splenda instead of sugar and left out the cheese because of dietary problems in my family. I didn't have time to let it sit for a while but I did put it in the freezer for about an hour and everyone loved it! I'm sure I'll never buy Italian Dressing again."
"I love this dressing and will use it often. Thanks for sharing your family recipe, Bev."
"Yay I've finally found it! The perfect, easy, cheap salad dressing recipe!!! I used to buy those Good Seasons packets, but I didn't like that they had preservatives in it. So I ran out of dressing today and spent ions of time trying to find a recipe on here that contained ingredients I had on hand. Voila! Thank you so much, Bev, for the wonderfully easy and tasty recipe that will be my family's new salad dressing!"
