"I came across this from a old recipe book I had from years ago. If you want it milder, you might want to cut down on thwe chili powder."

"This was excellent. I cut the recipe in half and it worked wonderfully. It was a mix of a chili and a stew. The flavor seemed very stewlike even though there were beans and spices. The stew meat was tender and wonderful. Thanks so much for posting! Made for Went to Market Tag."
"I made this Chili recipe for Chili Cookoff contest. I won second prize.
Made several changes/additions to recipe though. Did not think it was spicy enough since I usually add a lor more Chili powder to my chili recipes. I increased amount to 3 tablespoons and it was perfect. I changed the beans to 1 can pinto beans and 1 can black beans.
Decided after making this recipe, that this is the chili i will make when I have the time to cook it over long period of time."
"I made a couple of changes, using just 2 teaspoons of chili powder & 1/2 teaspoon of cumin, everything else was included as given. We had company so there were no leftovers, although our guests asked for a copy of the recipe! I usually do chicken chili, so this was a nice change from that! Absolutely great tasting! Thanks for sharing the recipe! [Made & reviewed in 1-2-3 Hits recipe tag]"
"I was a little worried that there was not going to be enough liquid in this chili. But it made a nice gravy in the end and tasted great!! The recipe did say to liquid reserved from the beans. But then did not say what to do with it. So I guess if a person wanted more liquid it could have been added back in at the end of the cooking time. Made for ADOPT A TAG, from the game 123 HITS"
"I think Shelby Jo said it best. it's a chili/stew. I did it in a skillet on the stove top as I was just making it for myself and it turned out very well indeed. The beef almost melts in your mouth and while I did increase the amount of the seasonings (personal preference) I didn't add anything else (although I sure wanted to add garlic, lol) and it very tasty. Thanks very much for this easy and great tasting recipe that I'm sure I'll make again. :D"
"This was wonderful after all the "Christmas food" we've managed to eat-just good and simple and much needed I think. I used red kidney beans and served the stew over rice sprinkled with cheese and fresh coriander. I also cut it in half for the two of us. I don't own a slow cooker, so cooked it in a heavy based pan on a heat diffuser over a low heat for around 2 hours. Works for me lol."
