"This recipe is in response to my son's desperate pleas for those lunchables that are unhealthy, expensive, and full of ingredients I can't pronounce...lol. Since I refuse to buy them, I came up with this idea instead to compromise with him."

"This was a big hit with my 1st and 5th grade kids. I have made lunchable kits before, but not pizza. Thanks for the idea. We added pepperoni, as my kids love that for a snack. I was concerned about a bag of sauce for DS, the first grader. DD suggested mixing the pepperoni, cheese and sauce together in a bag for for her little brother to scoop out with a spoon. Good idea, but she came up with an even better one, so we purchased a travel size squeeze bottle from the health and beauty section (for holding shampoo, etc) and put the pizza sauce in that. But we always have pizza sauce on hand, in the pantry or half a jar in the fridge, so I didn't need to freeze that with the kit. Being able to squeeze out the sauce was easier for my little one in particular. Thanks for a great alternative to PBJ's."
"Great Idea!!! My kids always want me to buy those lunchables at the store, but I refuse to buy them. They are full of preservatives and we try to not buy pre-prepared or processed foods if at all possible. My kids love to take these to school for lunch. I have some ready when school starts in a couple weeks. Thanks!!"
"I made these for DH's lunches and he said that by time it thawed and he was ready to eat it the sauce was a bit watery even after he stirred it. I'm not sure if its the type of sauce I used? I used Wal Mart brand pizza sauce and never had a problem with it when making pizza. Not sure what I can do about the watery sauce? But he said otherwise it was good. They were very easy to prepare and its nice to just grab a bag from the freezer to put in his lunch. I'll definitely be making these again, thanks for posting!"
"I love this concept. Thanks for posting. My daughter doesn't like RED SAUCE but likes cheese, dough and any other type of "dip" (even oil and vinegar) so I am going to subsitute out the pizza sauce. This is awesome and easy and something my 4 year old chef can help me prepare for the freezer!"
"Thanks for the great idea! I had been making the cheese and cracker ones homemade, but never thought of the pizza ones. My kindergartener loved it! I made up 32 kits for the freezer. Alternated with other items, this will last us a long time."
"Saw this in a thread about school lunches, so decided to try it. I made my own whole wheat crust and spaghetti sauce. The 9th grader and 4th grader both gave it a 4, but I'm giving it a 5 bcz it's easy, fun and the whole wheat probably influenced them a bit, although they are used to me making everything in whole wheat! LOL Will save and use regularly."
"AWESOME!!! I have 5 kids aged from 5-20 and these were a HUGE hit! My school age kids said their friends were jealous lol. These are inexpensive, and super easy to put together. Sometimes I let the kids bring an extra one to school to share ;)"
"DD loved this! I made my own pizza dough (Recipe #35805), and cut to fit in one of her lunchboxes. Two slices per lunch, and the rest goes in the freezer. I also have a stash of little boxes of pasta sauce in the freezer for this. I didn't freeze the cheese, because I just like it fresh better. However, this was easy for my 6 yo to do herself, and she thinks it is so awesome. thank you for a wonderful item in my lunch cookbook. :)"
"My son is a very picky lunch eater. Most days, he has peanut butter and jelly. We tried the packaged version of lunchables, but they were "too spicy". So, when I found this recipe, I wanted to try it at home first. We made this for dinner tonight, and I let the crust cool before serving, so it would be like what he would be eating at school. I cut the crust before baking it, mostly to get it to fit onto the cookie sheet. Guess what? My kids loved it!!! I got a big thumbs up, so I packaged up the rest of the crusts, with small ziplocs of cheese, pepperoni, and little dishes of the sauce. I hope it will go over for lunch as big as it did at dinner tonight!! Thanks for an alternative to PB&J!!"
