"I love this recipe! My grandmother gave it to me years ago and I lost it, I'm so glad I found it here. Its very easy to make, she calls it "Miracle Pie." We did it a little differently, though. We mixed the butter, flour, sugar, and milk first and poured them into the casserole dish, then added the 2 cups of fresh-picked blackberries (without extra sugar). The berries always seemed to end up in the middle with a crust over and under them - hence the name "Miracle Pie"!"
"This is fantastic! My wife and I loved it. We thawed some frozen blueberries instead of using the blackberries the recipe calls for and it turned out great. We also slightly over-cooked it, but that actually made the top a little bit crispy/candied. I love a recipe that survives small accidents unscathed! It was so easy. We'll make it again for sure."
"I made this close to the recipe leaving out maybe 1/3 cup of sugar. It is "interesting" I mixed everything like the recipe said to, but the middle of the cake baked with nothing in it, it was like a plain, dense angel food cake. I didn't have enough blackberries to make 2 cups so I used a necterine as well. It tastes very good, but...well, I am not sure I liked it all that much. My father went back for seconds, my husband said it was too "eggy" ???...go figure! :-) I may try this again in the future, maybe using more fruit, or frozen may work better as there is more juice once they are thawed. It is very quick and easy to make for sure! And by the way- if I am to bake this in a 2 qt casserole dish, why is it a pie?"
"This was awesome! The flavor is perfect. I only used half the amount of batter called for, that seemed a better proportion for just 2 cups of blackberries. I also added powdered cloves to the batter. It disappeared fast!"
"I really wanted to like this recipe as it was made (call me lazy); but, in my opinion, I would have to make some modifications if I were to try this one a second time. I'm not so sure it was fruity enough, and think I'd have to cut down on the amount of batter that covers the berries. The flavor was right there, but the proportions were not what I thought they should be."
"This is quite possibly the best cobbler recipe EVER! This rocks! I have never tasted better. I used Jiffy Mix (it's like Bisquick) instead of the self rising flour and topped it with some home-made whipped cream. Everyone LOVED it."
"Turned out tasting funny! Almost like you could taste the flour over everything. Not sure if there shouldn't be spices in this recipe. Not sure if I'll try again as the batter didn't cook quite right, and the blackberries actually burned!"
"I have made this recipe twice within 2 weeks now and we really enjoy it! The recipe is very quick and easy to prepare. The first time I made it, I followed the recipe exactly. We found it to be a bit too sweet for our taste, so I took the advice of one of the reviewers and used half the amount of sugar in the fruit. Excellent! Much better with less sugar!"
"Yum, this we delicious. We used fresh Blackberries from our property and halved the sugar. Less sugar better heath :)"
"Too easy! Loved the crust this made, almost cake-like, but with a nice crispy top. Mine browned perfectly and looked like something off a cooking show, I swear. We had it with vanilla ice cream. It didn't last long."
