"This is the recipe for apple betty found in the old Better Homes and Garden Cookbook from the 70's. You can't find this anymore, they've changed the recipe in the new one. This is so simple but completely delicious."
Serving Size: 1 (121 g)
Servings Per Recipe: 8
"Thank you so much for posting this!!! This is the recipe that I grew up with, my mom would make it for my birthday every year at my request. I have been looking all over for this recipe without the oats, breadcrumbs and other junk that's been added to the crumble recipe over the years. It's fabulous as is. Also, I've added a few berries to the apples when they're in season for a little added kick. Again, thanks for your post and shame on good cook books for changing tried and true recipies and leaving the name the same. Thanks again!"
"My grandma has the exact recipe in her old cookbook. I was literally writing it down and decided to search food.com and see if anyone had the exact recipe and I found you!! I'm so glad because this is SO amazing! I love when my grandma pulls out her old recipes, they are always so delicious and amazing!! Thanks!!!"
"The most simple recipe and by far, the best!"
"I lost my recipe-so glad to find this again! It is DELICIOUS!"
"Yay!!! I'm so glad you posted this recipe. I used to make this lots but the ex took my recipe book years ago. This is a wonderful & easy way to use fresh apples (firm & tart ones are the best!). My Mom asked me to make this for the holidays....so now I can!"
"I am a mother and grandmother. I seem to have lost this page in my 1969 Better Homes cook book. My son and now grandchildren ask for this Apple Betty! So glad you put this on the web. They thank you as well! There are some recipes you don't change and this is one of them."
"This was very good! I used half the flour and half quick oats. Soooo good with whipped cream on top!"
"This was very good! I used about 5 small sized apples and just a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg and it was plenty. I cut down the butter by 2 tablespoons and it was plenty and used 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup white sugar. Delicious and plenty sweet enough!"
