"I made this recipe twice in one week. The first time was to replace the soup mix in a casserole and it tasted fine. The second time, I tried it as a dip. It was ok, but I prefer the real deal for the dip. Definitely a great little recipe to us in a pinch and it is less salty tasting. Thanks Dee."
"I just omitted the celery seeds cause I couldn't find it and also I don't really like it :) I used it for recipe#420902 It was great. No need to buy onion soup mix. And also I never buy this cause DH has to watch his sodium intake. Thanks Chef Dee :) Made for I Recommend tag game"
"Worked great in a pot roast recipe."
"I LOVE this. No need to spend extra money on things that I already have in the cupboard!"
"Used minced dried onions but otherwise followed the recipe. Smells just like the packet kind, but I like that you can control the salt in it by using reduced sodium beef bouillon. Going to use this in recipe#312628. Made for I Recommend Tag."
"Excellent substitute recipe that worked perfectly in my recipe for Pot Roast. I am going to keep a container of this handy from now on. Loved that the sodium is so reduced in this recipe compared to commercial mixes. I can't wait to make French Onion Dip with it too. Thanks for sharing a great addition to our pantries. Made for the I Recommend Tag Game in Cooking Games with Friends forum."
"Excellent substitute for onion soup mix.....hope the reduced sodium amount is really true! The mixes are just loaded with it. This turned out wonderfully in a recipe,.....haven't tried it on its on as a soup. Thank for sharing!"
"Excellent! I won't buy the Lipton stuff again, this is much better. Thanks for sharing!"
"this was pretty good in a soup recipe. I will use this again."
"LOVED THIS! I made Crockpot Pepsi Pot Roast and it was perfect! I didn't have dried beef bouillon granules so I used 2 Tbsp. of Beef Better than Bouillon (paste), and added the rest of your ingredients to one can of cream of celery soup to make a paste. Place roast in crockpot, cover with soup mixture paste, and cover all with 1 16 oz bottle of REGULAR Pepsi (or Coke). Cooked 6.5 hours on HIGH. THANK YOU!"
"It seems to have been pretty good."
"I used this mixed into a casserole recipe and it tasted much like the pre-packaged mix. The true test will be how well this tastes as classic french onion dip."
"Thank you, great recipe. I have used it 2 or 3 times and it tastes great. I'm always looking to replace those little packages of spices with their unrecognizable ingredients!"
"I use the dry onion soup mix in quite a few recipes, but my husband has to watch his sodium intake so I turned to Zaar and found this recipe. I used it in a beef and noodle recipe and was very pleased. I will be making a double batch and keep it handy for other recipes. Thanks, Carole in Orlando"
"I may never buy a package mix again!"
"Never buy onion soup mix, so when I wanted to try out #362014, this great recipe saved the day. Much much better than the store bought variety I'd say. I didn't have the granules, so just used one bouillon cube instead, seemed fine to me. Thanks!"
"Chef dee... you have a winner here.. I used it on roast beef and it was delicious. Soooooooo much better than that salty stuff in a package.. don't know how i've never seen your recipe before. ... nita"
"Used with Yummy Round Steak With Rich Gravy, #122903 and it worked perfectly. Thank you! I will use this often."
"Nice substitute for the packaged stuff. I made and used 1/2 recipe for Kittencal's Salisbury Steak with Mushrooms and Onion Gravy #318998. I like that I can make it up ahead of time or as needed with spices on hand. Thanks for sharing."
