"Fantastic Muffins! Best ever... with a few tweaks: I added nutmeg and walnuts. I used half brown sugar, and half white. All whole wheat flour. For extra moistness, I used 3/4 cup milk and the other 1/4 cup low fat sour cream."
"Mmmm so good! Even my dad liked them, who is adamantly against any "healthy" desserts. I spritzed a bit of PAM in the muffin liners so they wouldn't stick. Yummy and good for breakfast!"
"These were fantastic! I don't like raisins so I omitted them, I added 1/4 tsp of nutmeg and used brown sugar and egg whites. I couldn't wait for the family to wake up this morning and try them. We will be adding these to our new "healthy" diet..Thank you so much!!"
"I gave this recipe 5 stars because of how healthy it is. If it wasn't a healthy recipe, I would be inclined to give it only 4 because it isn't as moist and sweet as the super unhealthy muffins, but because they're healthy, they get 5! :)
I'm very surprised at how well these turned out for how healthy they are! Excellent recipe. I also added nutmeg like many reviewers have mentioned. I don't like raisins, so I left those out, but they didn't seem to be missing a thing. I had a lot of batter left over, so I added a little flour to make them a little sturdier and made pancakes out of them. They were divine! I'll be keeping this recipe around."
"I've made these so many times, and they are wonderful! Thank you!"
"These are truly delicious muffins! I used one whole banana instead of the applesauce. I also added a 1/4 t of nutmeg for a little more flavour. I ended up with 10 muffins instead of 12 somehow, and the bake time was 18 mins in my oven. DELICIOUS!!! :)"
"Added 1/2 c of flax seed meal and a banana. These were wonderful! Very moist and great flavor. Making a ton to freeze and keep for quick breakfasts on the go."
"Delicious muffin, I ate 2 right away! I did half the recipe to get 6 perfectly domed muffins. I used 1/4 c. raisins and 1/4 c. eggbeaters for the 1/2 egg. Yummy!"
"These muffins are great. I can't say that they are the best muffins I have ever made but for only 135 calories and one gram of fat, they are fantastic. I used brown sugar in place of the granulated sugar and I added 1/4 tsp of ground cloves. Next time, I will try reducing the sugar to 1/3 as many of the other reviewers have done. Thank you for the diet-friendly option!"
"I also found these quite bland. They're ok for a "healthy" muffin, but I'm not sure that I'll make them again, I'm sorry. If I do, I'll probably add a bit more applesauce and more spices, such as cinnamon and nutmeg. Thanks for trying!"
"These muffins were okay but I found them kind of bland. Maybe adding extra spices (like pumpkin pie spice) and some nuts would help. I wouldn't make them again."
"These were *really* good for something that isn't bad for me!! These seem almost like a nice treat for someone dieting! I did the 1/3 cup brown sugar as well, and I sprinkled some splenda and cinnamon on top which turned out quite nice. I'll certainly make these again! --I just made these again, this time with craisins, even better! I think I'll be trying blueberries next :)"
"Yummo! Fabulous if you want a tasty wholesome muffin instead of a cake. I soured the milk with a little lemon juice, used 100% wholemeal SR flour, used banana instead of apple, 1/3 cup brown sugar and sprinkled tops with brown sugar mixed with cinnamon. This could be my new favourite muffin recipe!!!!!"
"Great muffins! I went crazy and added a chopped up apple and a half cup of walnut pieces along with the raisins. I also used brown sugar and decreased the amount to 1/3 cup because I don't like sweet, sweet muffins. They took 22 minutes in my oven. Definitely a keeper."
"Wow! These are so moist and delicious, it's hard to believe they're quite light. I've made them several times with slight changes to mix-ins. Also I used soy milk and only whole wheat flour and they're still grrreat."
"Was very good, the kids loved it. I found that it took longer to cook than the twenty minutes. I didn't have wheat flour so I supstituted 1/3 wheat bran and increased white flour to 3/4 cup. Very good recipe. Thanks"
