"Plan ahead this needs to be refrigerated for a minimum of 8 hours or overnight. I tossed the bread cubes with a couple teaspoons of cinnamon before placing in the baking dish, but that is optional, if you prefer a less sweeter taste just omit the white sugar completely --- this is *very* good!"

"This is a great recipe. I have made it a couple of times. I add lots of cinnamon and nutmeg, chopped walnuts, fresh apple chunks, and golden raisins. Light cream cheese and 2% milk works just fine. One of the reviews suggested adding the bread pieces to the egg/milk mixture and letting it soak a bit before moving it to the 9X13 pan. Worked GREAT!"
"It was delicious..... only slight change I made was last minute. Right before putting in the oven I melted 2 tablespoons of butter with a smidge of cinnamon and nutmeg an drizzled over the entire dish. My friends raved about this. Excellent recipe and super easy to follow."
"This turned out better than I expected, but did make some changes from the original recipe. Instead of plain bread, I used cinnamon raison swirl bread. It gave it the punch of flavor that I think it needed. I also added a touch of nutmeg. It was great! I served it with real maple syrup. I would do this recipe again."
"I couldn't taste the cream cheese or the maple syrup as much as I wanted, but it was still good."
"This is soo yummy! I made it for a staff breakfast and a family brunch. It went very quickly. Adding the cinnamon really made this dish fabulous!"
"This recipe was a hit at my husband's company meeting! Everyone loved it. I ended up using challah, and I think that made the dish extra tasty. I did find that I had to cook the casserole longer than 50 minutes. I baked it for a little over an hour.
I am making this for Easter brunch tomorrow!"
"Yum!!! I made this for Father's Day breakfast. It was enjoyed by all! I used a multi-grain ciabatta loaf and used all milk instead of milk and cream. I also added some cinnamon and sugar to the top before baking.

My family asked for the recipe and I know we will be saving this for more special occasions!

Thanks for the great recipe, I always know my new recipes will come out great if they are from Kittencalskitchen. :-)"
"Amazing...made this for a brunch today. Everybody loved it. I made it following the directions less the sugar. Definitely make again."
"I revised this version to be a little healthier and got not complaints from the crowd! I used 3 whole eggs and subbed the rest with egg whites. Also substituted was fat-free milk for whole.
It was a hit for our Saturday brunch!
Thanks for sharing!"
"My family loves this and requests it all the time now. I think its great to make after the kids go to bed and just pop in the oven in the morning. I use french bread, and keep the rest the same. I served this for Christmas morning with extended family and it all dissappeared fast, thanks for posting."
"I used 1 loaf of french bread which I just sliced and en torn into bite size pieces. I followed the directions exactly except I put 1/2 tsp of cinnamon in the egg mixture. Next time I may add more cinnamon and some nutmeg, because the flavor to me was a bit bland co,pared to my traditional cook on the stove recipe. This was very easy to put together. I loved being able to pull this out of the refrigerator on Christmas morning and letting it bake while we opened presents. I served it with bacon and sliced oranges."
"Yummy! I made this using a sweet Italian bread. Tossing the bread cubes in cinnamon was a great idea! I followed the recipe exactly. The only thing that I will do different the next time I make this, is to toss the bread cubes in the cream cheese mixture to assure that all the bread gets covered. Thank you for sharing!"
"I've made several different French Toast Casseroles and this one is my favorite. I've made it many, many times now to rave reviews each time and multiple requests to make it again or share the recipe. I don't change a thing and we love it!!"
"I made this for Christmas morning, and my family loved it! I served it with bacon."
"Delicious! I served this for Christmas brunch. It was so nice to make it & have all the kitchen mess cleaned up before we went out on Christmas Eve. I made it with pure maple syrup (not the simulated stuff) & bakery-made French bread. I also used low-fat cream cheese & skim milk to cut the fat a little. The flavour & texture were perfect. I only baked for 45 minutes, but when I was dishing this out, the bottom looked very dark. It didn't taste burnt, though!"
"A very custardy bread casserole. The maple flavor is subtle and it's not too sweet, even with the sugar added. Delicious and easy company breakfast."
"Another great breakfast recipe Kittencal! What can I say, DH and I both loved it. Not too sweet, and anything with cream cheese is a winner around here."
