"I saw this on Oprah when Rachael Ray was a guest."
Serving Size: 1 (511 g)
Servings Per Recipe: 4
"This was very good, and very easy. I am only giving it 4 stars tho, because when made as the recipe states, I too found it to be a bit bland. I added more basil, a tablespoon of sugar (needed it to balance the flavor, not to make it sweet) and a good handful of grated Romano cheese. I served it with Recipe# 59626 Cheesecake Factory Romano Chicken, and a thick slice of a good roasted garlic bread. It was really good."
"Very yummy sauce!"
"We love this stuff! Usually double it so we have leftovers for lunches and sometimes add a pound of browned Italian sausage."
"Excellent and easy recipe!! I however let the sauce simmer more so it thickens and I add some Parmesan Cheese for some extra flavor. Also, there is no need to use a 32 oz can, use a 28 oz can for a thicker and richer sauce!! Enjoy! :)"
"I agree with other reviewers that this recipe was easy. I gave it 2 stars (fair) because we found it pretty bland. If you have to make a number of changes to pump up the flavor, I see this as a different recipe. I wouldn't make this again."
"I love this recipe, I've made it the past two years for Valentines Day. My kids love it!! I add shrimp to mine."
"OMG!!My DD was licking the bowl. She is 8 so I am sure many people understand how happy this made me. She wants me to keep this recipe a family secret. I loved it too. Thanks for sharing * Pamela * !"
"We loved it, but I made it according to the notes I took from watching Racheal Ray on her 30 minutes meals show. The difference was that she only seemed to pour in a 1/2 cup of vodka on the show, and less basil, and it came out perfect for us. It is now a regular in our house."
"Pretty good as is. I added quite a bit of salt and pepper for flavor, about 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes and topped with parmigiana cheese. The sauce was a bit thin so I may reduce the chicken stock and crushed tomatoes next time. It was very flavorful. The basil makes a huge difference. I would definitely make again."
"Excellent sauce- 'nuff said. Thanks for posting !"
"This sauce is very good as written. I add leftover ham from the holidays to the sauce and let everything simmer a bit, top with grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. Serve with a spinach/field greens salad and crusty whole grain baked bread. My family loves this meal, as it is different than typical pasta dishes."
"This was quite good...I followed the recipe but made a few minor changes. Instead of chicken stock I used vegetable broth...and instead of fresh basil I used crushed basil from the spice rack. For the salt, I found that I had to add about 1 Tbsp. salt. I did find the sauce a bit runny at the end so I added about 1/2 cup grated Parmesan Cheese to absorb some of the liquid and thicken it up. After sitting for about 5 minutes it thickened up a bit. However, I think next time I think I might try only 1/2 cup broth instead. I will definitely make this again. thanks."
"Great! DS loved it. Mine also was runny even though I added shittake and white mushrooms along with sweet sausage. All and all though it was a good recipe."
"very good tasting, but mine was runny, like soup. maybe I didn't let it cook down long enough at each point. and I used diced tomatoes rather than crushed. hubby still wants leftovers for lunch tomorrow though, so it's a keeper!"
"very good! saw on Oprah also..however, after making it several times i have added in a few things. I like to saute some pancetta and add it into the sauce and i also saute some chicken by coating it w/ s&p and saute it in more shallots...sometimes i bread the chicken also...there are many things you can do to this recipe to add more substance to your meal"
"Great recipe. My husband does not tomato based sauces, but he really liked this one. I used fat free half and half and omitted the butter. It was great! It would easily feed 4-5 adults. Thank you for sharing!"
"I make this semi regularly and it is delicious! It is supposed to make four servings, but I get 6-8 and my boys are big eaters. I made it last time with half and half and it is still delicious! The sauce also freezes very well with or without the cream."
"Quick, easy & flavorful! I used fat free half and half mixed with 1 tbs. cornstarch instead of the heavy cream and I served it with pan grilled chicken. Thanks for posting!"
"It wasn't anything spectacular, but it went together very easily and had a good flavor. Great for picky Italian eaters and veterans alike."
"This is such a delicious recipe, and very versatile. Make as directed - it doesn't work nearly as well with tomatoes that aren't crushed or when you skimp on the cream."
