"The machine does the hard work and the shaping and baking in the oven is easy with this dough. Add your own toppings like dried onion bits if you like, but I like to top with kosher salt to bake and serve them with a roasted garlic butter. From The Bread Machine Cookbook by Donna Rathwell German."

"I made these tonight to go with baked ziti and they were a big hit with my family. I did make a couple minor changes though. In addition to the butter I added slightly less than 1 tbsp of olive oil and then I also let them rise for about 40 minutes, at 20 min they hadn't risen very much for me (probably because my kitchen was a little drafty tonight). When they came out of the oven I lightly brushed them with melted garlic butter and some Parmesan cheese. I will definitely be making these again. Thank you for sharing this recipe."
"WOW! These are the soft breadsticks we have been looking for. I let them rise about 40 minutes. We topped them with lots of garlic butter and parmesan cheese after baking. Make sure you bake them close together to keep them soft. Thank you PAC '08 for letting me meet Cookin-jo!"
"made these breadsticks and the texture was so nice I made a loaf of bread. OMG it was light and fluffy. Used the rapid setting and boy I may never purchase another loaf of store bought bread again. Thanks"
"Beware. 2 hour dough cycle, 20 minute rise (other reviewers said to let it rise for 40 minutes instead) and 15 minutes of cooking does not add up to 2 hours and 15 minutes. If you are on a schedule, keep this in mind before making this recipe."
"mine didn't turn out as what most reviewers had! the dough turned out great after the bread machine finished its cycle. The breadsticks took about 25 minutes to be done and they were rather chewy, not soft at all on the inside.Dont fancy making these again."
"These bread sticks are really good! I skipped the egg white wash. After baking I brushed them with melted butter and sprinkled with garlic powder and basil. They were awesome, my kids and husband polished off the whole batch in one sitting!"
"These were pretty good!"
"Followed the recipe and was rewarded with great breasticks. Made a herb-butter to dip them into, so yummy."
"I used this recipe for the first time last evening when we had company! It sure was a big hit!!
CynthiaLou (I even gave the recipe to my company.)"
"very easy and quick to make. These taste great too, thanx a bunch!"
"These were pretty good, but a little hard for me to shape and stretch out into bread sticks. I will try again. They did taste good. Thank you."
"I made these for my grown daughter who had a craving - they were just what she wanted; soft inside, crispy outside, and great flavor. I "stuffed" them with moz. cheese sticks (cut in half lengthwise) and sprinkled on grated Parmesan. Delicious! Oh, I made these in my food processor; all dry ingredients in the bowl, pulse to mix, then with machine running add liquids, adjust flour, and run processor for 40 seconds to knead, let raise in a warm spot and we had breadsticks out of the oven in 90 minutes! Thanks for a great recipe!"
"easy and such a great texture...soft on the inside and a little crunch on the outside. We top with cinnamon, sugar, cardamom, oregano, basil, cheese (not all at once, of course) and I have even stuffed them with leftover cheese-sticks. Delicious!"
"This were easy to make, which I love but I think I cooked mine a few minutes to long cuz the top got pretty brown. I think next time I make these I'll either cut the time down a few mins or lower the temp a bit. Thanks for sharing this easy recipe."
"Very yummy right out of the oven. One person said to put close together to keep soft, which is true. I also had one straggler off to the side and it was crunchy - this was yummy too. Either way, very good."
"I think next time I'll let these rise a bit longer because I found that they were not as soft as I would have liked, but they were the perfect addition to serve with Recipe #108721. Thanks for posting, making breadsticks in the bread machine is quick and easy!"
"Just exactly what I was expecting breadsticks to taste like. Thanks for posting!"
