"This worked perfectly in the recipe I needed it for. I did replace the beef powder with better than bouillon in the liquid portion of the recipe I was using. Thanks for posting!"
"I really appreciate this recipe. I never seem to buy onion soup mix, but I always have these ingredients on hand. I used it in a stew and it was excellent. Thanks for posting!"
"I made a batch of this and it is actually better then the original lipton onion soup mix you buy in the box. Very flavorful and really enhanced my potroast recipe in the crockpot.. this one is a keeper! Thank you for sharing this gem.."
"My spouse has no tolerance for salt, blood pressure spikes. Made this with Herb-ox sodium free beef bouillon. I did use celery salt (not seed). Very flavorful. Thank you for this recipe!"
"As good as original. I suppose the batch is equal size to the store bought Lipton's."
"Thought I had a packet in the pantry, but I didn't-- this saved dinner! The taste was just a little different...fresher...maybe because I used "better than bullion" instead of a dry beef bullion."
"Such a great find...it saved me a second trip to the store!"
"This is great! Thank you! Thank you! for posting this handy recipe."
"I can't tell a diffrence from this or store bought! Thank you so much!"
"I use this in Fabulous Beef Stew (Recipe #25806) and it works FABULOUSLY! Can't wait to try it in other recipes."
"I used this in Recipe #35672 and it worked out great! I didn't have celery seed but used a bit of Salad Seasoning (which contains celery seed). The spice mix made a HUGE flavor difference in my turkey burger's flavor! I made it again in some ground turkey for a "taco casserole" and it elevated the usual turkey flavor. I think this mix is a perfect enhancer for ground turkey! Thanks Alyseepoo, for posting. Roxygirl"
"Great recipe. We are a gluten free family so most packaged foods are out of the question for us. Just whipped this up to make some dip for my girls and it is even better than the store bought stuff. I love the addition of celery seed for flavor. I will definatly make this one again and again."
"Easy and works well. I used the mix when making recipe #321674. Thanks!"
"I loved this recipe. I used the condensed beef boullion (instead of the powered/cubed stuff). Next time I may just use grinded celery seeds to cut down the salt. Either that or trying to find low salt beef boullion. But I loved that I can control what's in the soup mix as I'm trying to avoid MSG."
"This is one of the best recipes I've found! I never think about buying the Lipton soup. I always have all the ingredients in the pantry to make this. Learning about this will enable me to try more recipes that call for Lipton. Thanks for the great recipe."
"I used this recipe but added 1/4 teaspoon black pepper and 1 tablespoon dried parsley. My niece had told me about sprinkling dried soup mix on a tritip, secure tightly in foil and put in a crock pot on low for 8 - 10 hours. The Lipton was so salty, when I tried to make gravy I had to add quite a bit of water to dilute it. With this recipe it was wonderful. After tritip is done, drain liquid from crock pot and whats in the foil into fat seperator, or use turkey baster, put in sauce pan, add a little merlot, heat and thicken with a corn starch slurry. It make a terrific onion gravy for the meat and of course baked potatoes."
"I've never cooked with onion soup mix before, so I can't comment on the taste, but it was sooo easy and using a very-low-sodium beef base let me keep the sodium down. I used it in recipe#105817 and it came out great! I've already mixed up another little bag of it to use later."
"I used this for a Beef and Mushroom Stroganoff last week (in place of the packaged stuff) and it was so much better and not as salty! I will definitely be using this from now on!"
"This was great and so easy. I may never buy the packaged stuff again! Thanks for posting."
"Takes only seconds to make and costs pennies to make! It contains much less salt than the mix.... plus I used reduced-sodium bouillon. I'll be using this in recipes that call for the mix from now on. Thanx for posting!"
