"I saw flax seed at the grocery and bought it without any idea of what to do with it. I found out that flax seed contributes fiber and omega-3s to the diet. Even better, it made this delightful, speckled loaf with a nutty flavor. Wonderful as is or toasted."

"Nice color and very dense. I did use more water than the recipe calls for as my bread machine was bogging down. I used a total of at least 1 1/2 cups plus another tablespoon of water. Thanks duonyte for posting. Made for PRMR Holiday Special."
"I really like this bread. I make a double batch in my kitchenAid mixer. I did find the dough to be too dry, so the next time I changed the water to 1 1/2 c. I also changed the salt to 1 tsp (personal taste). Nice to find a healthy delicious recipe, thanks."
"WONDERFUL!! I used 1/2 bread flour and 1/2 a homemade whole wheat blend...threw in a bit of whole flax too...instead of egg wash did a rice milk, honey & flax gel glaze...so good...looking forward to making it with molasses and trying chia seeds next time...Thanks for a beautiful bread recipe duonyte...made playing "I recommend tag""
"Loved it! Make this bread! I also increased the water to 1.5c and the salt also. This is definitely a back pocket recipe for me! Thanks for posting."
"Delicious and so easy to make! I made it exactly as written, and it turned out beautifully. I did do the egg wash and sprinkled whole flax on it. Our whole family enjoyed it. I will definitely be making this again! Thanks for sharing."
"Recipe was great! thanks for the additional reviews adding more water to dough, the loaf cam out moist and delicious! I didn't give it 5 stars because I would have loved to make a larger loaf!! :) .. also there was no info on rising time as i don't have a bread maker. otherwise A+"
"I've been making this weekly for a couple of months now. I throw it all in the breadmaker and run it on a regular cycle. The only ingredient change I make is that I use white whole wheat flour. I am amazed at how tasty it is! I have never seen a recipe use so much flax seed and it gives the bread a very nice nutty taste. My 5 year old eats it with his sandwich for lunch everyday (sliced thin because it is a bit dense) and that makes me feel good that he's getting his omega 3's!"
"I loved this bread. I had some milled flax seed I needed to use up and found this recipe. I added 1 1/2 cups of water and about 2 tablespoons less flour. The dough was a little sticky when I took it out of bread machine. I will oil hands next time. It came out perfect! I will make exactly this way again."
"Very nice hearty bread. I did use molasses instead of honey. As I type there are only two slices left."
"The aroma that filled my home can make even the most carbohydrate-resistant dieter hungry. I thank you for sharing your glorious recipe, but if you could spare it, I also could really use a million dollars. Made for PRMR."
"Really good. Made just as written, mixed and rose in the bread machine, then formed and rose outside, baked in the oven. Rose well, made pretty loaf. Will be a new staple."
"Loved it so much, making two loaves for a bake sale tomorrow. Added dried cranberries but they got a little too chopped up, they disappeared. My husband really loved it too. I "pointed" it out on Weight Watchers at 4 per slice if you get 15 slices out of the loaf."
"This bread is gorgeous, lovely texture and taste. Still tastes good the next day and both my toddler and 5 year old daughter enjoyed it. I used a bout 1 tsp yeast and used milk to wash before baking and sprinkled extra flax seeds on top. It rose lovely and looked gorgeous when cooked. I cooked for about 5 mins less than indicated as my oven is fan forced and it was perfect. Thanks for posting this great bread recipe!!"
"This worked out really well. The dough came together very nicely - I used kitchen aid and old fashioned rising method. I made the dough into 12 small breads that will come in handy for sandwiches, snacks etc. Flax seed meal is just a great product and so healthy, nice to see a recipe that uses it to this extent."
"This ended up being too thick and heavy for me."
"I probably did something wrong. The only change I made was to use only all purpose flour. I think I let it rise too much. The bread was very large when I put it to bake in the oven and it was maybe a bit too flat. Maybe my son jumped beside the oven and it made it flat. I don't know. I took a slice when it was still warm. It was great with butter. But the next day I wanted another slice and it was too heavy. I'll try again this recipe later. Thanks Duonyte :) Made for Newest Zaar tag"
"This is absolutely the most delicious Flax Seed Bread! I just love it! I also used molasses instead of honey, and 9 Grain wheat flour. Absolutely great toasted or made into sandwiches. Thanks for posting this little gem! I know I'll be making this very often! Made for Newest Zaar Tag"
"I made this today and it was fantastic. I substituted wheat germ oil for the olive oil with no difference in taste or texture. I did have to add 2T more water but that was probably due my measuring! I split the dough and made two smaller loaves. Slicing the top, egg wash and extra seeds sprinkled on top made beautiful loaves. Thanks for a great recipe."
"I just love this bread. It has such a wonderful nutty flavor to it, and the fact that it's healthy is just a bonus! I make this all the time now - it is a staple in our house."
"This has to be one of my all time favorite breads! And to think it's healthy too! This is going to become a staple at my house. Thanks for the great recipe."
