"Great recipe, my little ones gave it 10 stars!!!! I used slow cooking oats, and soaked them for 12 hrs to make them more digestible, then drained them really well. I used coconut oil in place of the butter, and chopped the apples really fine (my picky son doesn't like "stuff" in his oatmeal) I used 2 tbsps of maple syrup in place of brown sugar and cooked the apples well before adding the oats and milk. I didn't really measure the oats or the milk. I think I used closer to 2/3 cup of oats, and just added the milk until it was the right consistency. We topped each bowl with a little more syrup and my kids gobbled it up. It was just enough to serve 2 preschoolers. I've been looking for a home made oatmeal to replace the pre-packaged stuff I've been using. This recipe is a winner, thanks so much for posting it :D:D"
"This was great! My apples were leftovers, so they were already sliced & cooked in some cinn & Splenda, so the hard part was done! I didn't use any brown sugar but did add some more cinn. For a snack just for me, I used 1/4 cup rolled oats & 1/3 cup milk-I like my oatmeal creamy but not too thin! Instead of nuts, I added some raisins & made it a little too sweet by adding a Splenda pkt-it didn't really need it! Topped it with some vanilla yogurt & a little sugar free maple syrup-a great treat! Thank u for sharing."
"This was great and reminded me of the flavored oatmeal packages at the store, but with this one...you know what you are eating. I also liked that that I got a whole apple with my breakfast. I used regular oats (not quick) and it took about 4 minutes to cook. I also used a lot less than 1 tbsp butter, and it wasn't missed at all."
"I just got done making this for my very picky 2 1/2 year old son, and he LOVED it! He ate 2 big helpings! I used Quick Cooking Oats and cooked the oatmeal in the microwave as the apples were cooking on the stovetop. I combined everything and added milk at the very end and it was a hit! Thanks!!"
"What a treat! I used old fashioned oats to make this so I ended up using a little more milk and having to cook a bit longer, but this was well worth the wait : ) I left out the walnuts, but after tasting this, I think they would make an excellent addition to my next bowl. "the only change I made was to use Splenda brown sugar. Very creamy and good."
