"This is a Rachel Ray recipe I had in my file for quite awhile, and had to try it recently to satisfy a craving. It turned out really well. I used made from scratch biscuit recipe as I couldn't locate the jiffy mix in my area, I made about 6 biscuits. Also, I think the refrigerated biscuits would work as well. Otherwise I followed the recipe pretty much exactly."

"My husband loves this recipe. I follow the recipe pretty closely, and instead of using the jiffy mix, make my own using flour, salt, baking soda and milk. The first time I made this, I ended up with some really hard dumplings because I didn't use a wide pot. So the next time, I made just enough dumplings to cover the top of the pot. Then, in another pan, I made the rest of the batch (I just used additional two cans of chicken broth mixed with some poultry seasoning so the dumplings could cook in it). It came out wonderful and we ended up with light fluffy dumplings."
"This is my kids favorite soup recipe. They ask for it about every 3 weeks, even in our TX summers. I x8 the recipe, except for the dumplings and chicken, dividing it into 2 pots before I add the broth. Doubles (and more) exceptionally. I use Recipe #19123 for the dumplings."
"Soooo good! I baked off chicken breasts in the oven for 30 minutes then shredded them with forks. Other than that I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out wonderful. Definitely a keeper!"

I made this last night using left over rotisserie chicken, and followed the rest of the recipe except I followed Lori in NC and made Bisquick dumplings and added some fresh parsley and some fresh chives to the dumplings. "Delicious meal and a real man-pleaser, plus very easy to prepare. Just two changes, but one might have added additional flavor. I deboned a lemon-pepper seasoned rotisserie chicken from the deli for this recipe. The only other difference is I used the Bisquick dumplings recipe. Took me about 40 minutes, not including deboning the chicken. I served peas on the side as son does not care for them (he had broccoli), along with mashed potatoes. Thanks for this great recipe!"
"This is a great recipe...now, to be honest I had to change it up some. I started out as directed but after all of the veggies were done I took them out of the pot and quickly cooked my chicken pieces...added the veggies back to the pot. I didn't have poultry seasoning...so I added about a quarter to half teaspoon of sage and a good amount of salt and pepper. I used one box of chicken broth...and frozen dumplings that I get at our wal-mart...Mary Hall's I think. I used a half package of them, they come in strips and I just cut them to about one inch squares, dropped them in and let them cook about 10 minutes...and no peas. The peas seemed a odd addition to me. My very picky...I don't like chicken and dumplings family LOVED them. Not the way my Mamaw made them...but great for my family! Thanks for sharing... Oh, and as to time...I have never made a "30 minute meal" in thirty minutes...but this one was only about 40...getting better : )"

"This was very good, and it was done in under 45 minutes, which is typical for me. I had to sub frozen sliced carrots, thawed, and used 2 c Bisquick and 2/3 c milk for the dumplings, which took closer to 15 minutes to cook. Will definitely make this again. Thanks for posting!"

"This was SOOOO good!! I have never made chicken & dumplings before but was in the mood for some. I reduced the Poulty Seasoning to 1/4 teaspoon (personal preference) and used canned biscuits. The broth tasted so good. I actually caught my husband drinking the leaftover broth out of the bowl! Good sign!"
"This was amazingly easy and had really good flavor. I was skeptical about the veggies being done but they were just right. I did cheat and use a can of biscuits and cut them into about 9 pieces per biscuit. Worked perfect without the extra time and mess of mixing up a package of biscuits."
"Great recipe! I used the dumplings from Southern Chicken and Dumplings (Recipe #5083). I'm a sucker for homemade dumplings! I did add the parsley flakes into the dough though, and they turned out great. Only one complaint - the whole recipe could definitely use more seasonings. I used a non-stick pan and didn't have any trouble with the vegetables sticking."
"This took an hour for me from beginning to end. It is very good. It doesn't taste like it's long-simmered, but it does taste home-made and delicious. I only cooked the chicken long enough to make and cook the biscuits, and it was perfectly done. Juicy chicken, but no pink. I used a couple chopped baby carrots with the vegetables. I did microwave the peas for 60 seconds--not quite done--because I didn't really trust them to be done by just putting them in the finished soup. They were so...frozen. However, they were perfect this way. I only wish it made more dumplings, but I don't know where they would have cooked as the cooking surface was pretty much covered with dumplings. I will make this again, I'm sure. The only drawback was that my vegetables stuck when I was sauteeing them. I wonder if the other cook(s) used a nonstick pan."

"My boyfriend HATES chicken and dumplings, but when I made this for him tonight, he packed the left-overs for lunch! The things that I did different was that I made my own stock by boiling a 5 lb chicken. I removed the chicken off the bone and shredded the meat and used it instead of the chicken tenders. I also added corn in addition to peas. However, I did take a short-cut and used the biscuit you buy in a tube. LOL. I cut them into quarters so that they wouldn't be raw on the inside (I steamed them like the recipe said to for 8-10 minutes). Overall, I LOVE THIS RECIPE! Thank you so much for posting it!"
"Quick and easy to prepare. I really like RR recipes. I omitted the onions and used Bisquick for the dumplings ~~ steam 10 min uncovered and then 10 min covered. This dish was really tasty."

"Chicken and dumplings is hands down one of my favorite meals. This was pretty tasty. Still doesn't add up to the "Big Thicket" recipe on this site, but it is much easier!"
